Ok so here is the follow up to my little issue. I log on last night, with Petunia by my side. I go to check the stable master, and now I have 3 pets, the first being the one by my side, Petunia, in the current pet slot, then I have my old owl in the 1st inactive slot, and Petunia again in the 2nd inactive spot. Which is even more weird because as of now I have only baught 1 inactive spot in the stables, and it is showing I can still purchase the second spot for 5g, but there is already a pet in that spot.
Now I try to switch out Petunia for the Owl. I can't select Petunia(neither icon, not the active pet icon, or the 2nd slot inactive icon). So because I can't select her, I can't put her in the stables. The only icon I can select is the owl. I can't do anything with it though, I can't put it in the active slot, it won't switch out, I can just move it on my screen and put it back in the 1st inactive slot. So now my stable is useless.
I have to do a GM ticket, I abandon Petunia(my little flower will be missed, she was a BG beast dominating players left and right), then the GM comes deletes all my pets at my request, and gets my stable all worked out. They said the problem was that I had too many pets than I should have, so this definitely a bug in the system, to allow someone to dismiss their pets and tame another. So now I know to abandon all my pets, but shouldn't they do something about this to save them some trouble with other newbs like me who make this mistake.
It seems like a simple mistake that anyone can make rather easily, and doesn't seem to hard to fix, but I mean to save time for the GMs couldn't they do something to easily fix this. Like make tame pet ability only be active if they abandon a pet or place it in the stables, instead of being castable anytime as long as you don't already have a pet by your side. Or even easier make an ability(that you would get free from the quest that you get the tame pet ability) to abandon pet, that way new hunters will know and see the difference between dissmiss and abandon.
Here is my frame of thought on why it happened. I rarely ever right click icons, not even so inspect people(I use armoury for that), so I really had no idea Abandon was in there. The only reason I found how to change the name, was because I was looking for how to change the name, and since I saw no abilities on it, I right clicked and looked for it. Now the same thing happened when I wanted to get rid of a pet. I was looking for a way to get rid of it, and I saw Dissmiss in the abilities, and I thought Dissmissing your pet was the way to get rid of it. So I never thought to look any further once I saw that.
I'm not making excuses for my mistakes, I am simply pointing out how easy it is for someone to overlook right clicking their pet icon, when you have an ability that does a similar thing right in front of you, and just thinking of simple ways to keep others from making the same mistake.
But it's just ideas, and everything is working fine for me now and I am happy about that. Now I have to go get another pet and may name it Petunia II, if I can, and hope they can fill the shoes of her predecesor.
