Apparently multiple people have confirmed that you can train Raptors with Dash on the PTR; including the author of Petopia.

Bought God Damn Time!

The only reason I am not too fond of raptors is because of that!

Now I might just have to get me one and keep it :P

Whoot!!!

I have gone through various stages of owning different raptors and found as much as I loved them they never really got the different skill variations that made other pets more viable... (dash being one of them).... Am so glad to hear that they be chasing down that elusive prey with ease from now on... (I mean a piggy out running a raptor... plzzz -_-)

Unless your in PvP, what is so great about the speed boosting talents? I know that it gives you an edge to leveling speed, but if your not in a big rush is there some other reason to have them?

And also, grats on raptors. I may not like them but I know a ton of people who do.

Well, in PvE it also helps you fight a mob exactly where you want to fight it. Without Dash/Dive/Charge/Warp you might end up sending your pet after a mob, and it managed to move right back into the path of a patrol before your pet reaches it. Then you have to start recalling your pet, and position the mob, and so on. Alot more work then just Ctrl-1.

Also, as you said, the killspeed increases alot when you don't have to wait for your pet.

swier , the heading says the following : "Raptors Getting Dash! -- PTR 2.2.0"

Now, what PTR means, is "Public Test Realm". This means that it is possible on the test realm to do it, which could mean that this will be implemented in the live version once patch 2.2.0 goes live.

Short version, your raptor can only learn dash on the test realm as of yet

Swier - Also note that "dash" isn't learnable from the pet trainer. You will have to find an animal that has "dash" and learn it from that pet so you can then teach it to your raptor. Your Beast Lore ability should tell you whether or not an animal has "dash" when you use it on an animal.

What's the point of dash in pve? Are you kidding???

This is one of the most compelling reasons to get a Boar at lvl 10. Yes, I said "Boar" and "lvl 10" - but it's topical because of the issue of land speed.

If you can go from lvl 10 to lvl 32 w/ charge at least every other fight, please do the math. Think of all those fights. Each fight has seconds shaved off it.

Now go past lvl 32 (and either keep a Boar w/ Charge or swap to a dash/dive pet) - and go to lvl 70 - include farming and so on. Now think of all the fights, many with seconds shaved off them, and do the math. It's not insignificant.

It's also psychological. Once you get pet speed, you get very used to it. Fights are more fun because that nagging need to hesitate is gone.

Please - land speed, whether by charge, dash or dive, is very, very nice, pve and pvp. Don't listen to anyone who trashes it.

Let's assume there are 25,000 fights from level 10 to level 70. It's probably low, but just picked a number. Now lets assume you save 3 seconds every other fight by using dash/dive/charge. So you would cut down an average of 1.5 seconds per fight...or 37500 seconds for the course of levelling. That's 625 minutes, or 10 hours and 25 minutes of play time. Granted, this is random guesses, but that's a lot.

That is the main reason I like dash/dive, charge and warp. They are simply fun. They make playing my hunter more fun. And since I’m playing the game to have fun…

I’m not worried about leveling speed. Any time I shave off my combats will be sucked away by how much time I spend fishing or farming low level gear to dress my characters up in cool looking outfits when they aren’t risking life and limb in combat.

I have some pets I really like that don’t get any speed enhancing skills. But I really do miss having them.

It makes levelling faster as the pet gets into combat faster. My bear was so slow. I was a noob pretty much until 45 when I tamed bangalash. Then I realized how different everything was with a high dps high speed pet. It takes forever for a pet to get into combat otherwise. Though I used to send pet in and then loot/skin body while waiting.
