49 Warlock twinkFollow

#1 Jul 23 2007 at 6:06 AM Rating: Decent
So my warlock is getting closer to 49 (he's 46 atm, avatar hasn't updated), and the time has come for me to start looking for some new gear.

I was almost fully twinked at 39 with 250 shadow damage and 2,3k hp. The grind from 39-46 has been incredibly fast and fun due to the vast amount of damage and healthregen I got.

Ganking lvl ?? allies is also fun :D

At lvl 42 I ganked a party of three lvl 43 dudes. Pally, rogue and shammy. I swear, it wouldn't suprise me if they all three rushed in to make NERF LOCK threads after that. Haha, locks are so OP (not sarcasm).

Anyways, I don't really know what to look for. I do not plan on going destruction because +fire damage I would have to load up on, would not help the leveling afterwards (I'm taking him to 70).

So I'm looking for the BEST gear availible for an affliction warlock. +Spell/shadow damage and +stamina/intellect.

What gear do you suggest me to get? You can check my armory and see if there is anything I should keep (e.g. Staff of Jordan with +40 spell damage or the epic PvP bracers too maybe).

I know rogues got an incredibly helpful resource called shadowpanther.net where you can see the best gear availible in all brackets in all slots - sorted in priority etc.

Is there such a thing for Locks too?

All help is appreciated. Thanks

Dude, Dude.... If you plan on twinking a 49 twink Warlock you will have to have atleast 1k.... If you bought all the best gear and the best enchants then that would cost around 1k... If you are looking for some advice on decent gear that a level 49 can afford then you should probably post that

Money is not a problem ;)

I got loads of cash from my 70 rogue :)

You should just google "WoW level 49 warlock twink gear" - and variations of that - til you get a good list of gear. Watch out for keyloggers on some random sites you visit - be careful what you click - make sure your e-protection is in use - clean your machine often.

I know some good cloth stuff drops in Mara.

At this level a lot of the +sp dam comes from enchants still. Items do give it, but you've yet to hit the zone where there are killer items w/ +stam and +sp dam (the optimal for pvp).

You can always just max sp dam.

Now, if you have a buddy who can run you thru RFK and SM - some of those items are still pretty hard to beat, even for 49:

Lich robes
That belt that drops off the skel on the bone pile
The hat that drops in the cathedral
Illusionary rod

There are better items - but I've seen people at 49 use some of those - and I *think* lich robes are still one of hte best sta items even for 49.

Here's something to consider: if you could have 6 items that collectively gave you an additional, oh, 80 +sp damage - or - 6 items that collective gae you 400 to 500 extra hitpoints, which would you take? From my bg experience, I'd go w/ the stam/hps. Sp dam is nice: often, being able to survive the opening phase of a stunlock, an aimed shot crit, a pyroblast, etc. is nicer.

Thanks for the advice, but I was still hoping that some twinks from in here could share their experiences regarding itemization.

My current gear is as follows:

Weapon: Staff of Jordan [+26 spell, +11 int] (+40 spell)
Ranged: Jaina's Firestarter [+6 int]
Head: Green Lens of Shadow Wrath [+36 shadow, +10 sta] (+100 hp)
Neck: Triune Amulet [+7 int, +7 stam]
Shoulder: Inquisitor's Shawl [+9 spell, +8 int]
Cloak: Silky Spider cape [+11 sta] (+120 armor)
Chest: Robe of the Magi [+22 spell, +6 int] (+150 hp) - I prefer this over Lich robes.
Wrist: Dryad's wrist bindings [+16 spell, +6 sta, +6 int]
Gloves: Dreamweave gloves [+18 spell, +4 int]
Belt: 38 PvP Belt [+14 spell, +4 sta, +4 int]
Pants: Necromancer's Leggings [+10 shadow, +12 sta, +11 int] (+25 spell, +15 sta)
Boots: 38 PvP boots [+8 spell, +10 sta, +3 int] (+12 sta)
Ring1: Band of the underworld [+14 shadow, +10 sta]
Ring2: Band of the underworld [+14 shadow, +10 sta]

What I'm looking for, is upgrades for the 49 bracket. I know about Spellshock Leggings as a nice upgrade for legs, but I'm still unsure about the other parts. I doubt some of those epics are replaceable (Underworld bands for instance, has uber pvp stats!).

So yea, any suggestions?

You'd probably want:

Shadoweave Shoulders +17
Deep Woodlands Cloak +12
Antiquated Nobleman's Tunic (+13 damage but more stats than Magi)
Shadoweave Pants +21

Other than that, you pretty much have the best stuff still.

Head - Dreamweave Circlet - [21 spell, 10 int, 12 spi] (+100hp) (crafted)
Neck - Gemshard Heart - [10 stam, 10 int, 6 spi] (Princess in Maura)
Shoulders - Kentic Amice - [14 spell, 5 stam, 13 int, 6 spi] (from BRD /cry)
Back - Deep Woodlands Cloak - [12 spell, 6 stam, 9 int] (+20 spell penetration) (Quest)
Chest - Chan's Imperial Robes - [20 stam, 10 int, 10 spi, 5 nature res] (+150 hp) (world drop)
Bracers - First Sergeant's Silk Cuffs - [14 stam, 6 int] (+15 spell dmg) (PVP reward)
Gloves * - Silkweb Gloves - [14 stam, 13 int, 3 mp5] (+20 spell dmg) (BRD)
Belt - Ban'Thok Sash - [12 spell dmg, 10 stam, 11 int, 8 spell hit] (BRD)
Pants ** - Spellshock Leggings - [23 spell dmg, 9 stam, 10 int] (+35 spell dmg and +20 stam)
Boots - Defilers Cloth Boots - [9 spell, 13 stam, 6 int, run speed] (+12 stam)
Ring - Gem Studded Band - [16 spell, 6 stam] (crafted)
Ring - Advisor's Ring - [12 spell, 6 stam, 4 mp5] (pvp reward)
Trinket - Insignia of the Horde/Alliance - [break CC] (pvp reward)
Trinket - this depends on professions.

Staff:
Glowing Brightwood Staff - [15 stam, 29 int, 9 spirit, 15 NR] (+40 spell dmg) (world drop)
Spire of Hakkar - [18 spell dmg, 16 stam, 16 spirit] (+40 spell dmg) (world drop)

Wand:
Wizard's Hand of Shadow Wrath - [10-17 shadow damage] (world drop)

If you have no professions you could get the 2nd PVP trinket, or the 6 demon bag. If you have JC or engineering theres cool trinkets there too.

* The BEST gloves would be Atal'ai Gloves of The Eagle. But look at the gloves - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10787, they drop in a dungeon, are bind on pickup, and they have a <random enchantment>. So you have a ~6% chance of them dropping, then a 22% chance they are "Of The Eagle". I wouldn't rely on getting these gloves, although they would be amazing with 13 stam, 13 int and 9 spell damage.

** Pants are incredibly rare drop. You might search the AH for months and not find a pair. But they're by far the best in the bracket. If you cant find them, just buy the best "of the eagle" pants and slap a runic spellthread on them.

*** Theres an amazing ring in ZF with a random enchantment - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=862. If you got "of the eagle", it would be awesome, but drop rate + random enchantment means you cant reliably farm it.

Theres not alot of epics in the 40-49 bracket.

46 might be a bit late for the best gear. You'd need a few runs through sunken temple, maura and BRD to get all this gear. Stop questing, stop grinding, and make a plan if you seriously want to get all the best gear for 49. You should have started at ~43-44 imo, not 46.

Anyway if you got all this gear, you'd be at 239-257 spell damage, 249-274 shadow damage, base health + 170 stam, and a bunch of int + mana regen doesn't hurt either. I'd go with the blue staff over the epic one (equal stam, trade int for damage on blue staff).

Thanks a lot for the suggestions but there are some of the items I wouldn't replace with those I have already.

---- Dreamweave Circlet - [21 spell, 10 int, 12 spi]

The Green Lens I got has +36 shadow and +10 stamina. Way better.

---- Gemshard Heart - [10 stam, 10 int, 6 spi] (Princess in Maura)

This is actually a nice upgrade with +3 sta and +3 int. Nothing gamebreaking though, but every stat counts. Ill be sure to get this.

---- Kentic Amice - [14 spell, 5 stam, 13 int, 6 spi] (from BRD /cry)

Some pretty good stats, but the crafted shadoweave shoulders has +17 shadow damage and +6 stamina. I'd take them over Kentic tbh.

----Deep Woodlands Cloak - [12 spell, 6 stam, 9 int] (+20 spell penetration) (Quest)

Very nice cloak indeed, I'll try find a group for Hinterlands tomorrow. Beats Silky spider by FAR!

---- Chan's Imperial Robes - [20 stam, 10 int, 10 spi, 5 nature res] (+150 hp) (world drop)

This one has no spell/shadow damage, so I prefer my Robe of the Magi with +22 spell and +6 int. +20 stamina is very nice, but I'd rather not sacrafice such a huge amount of spell to get it.

---- Bracers - First Sergeant's Silk Cuffs - [14 stam, 6 int] (+15 spell dmg) (PVP reward)

I already got the PvP bracers, but the ones I have has +16 spell +6 int and +6 stamina. Way better than those silk cuffs.

---- Gloves * - Silkweb Gloves - [14 stam, 13 int, 3 mp5] (+20 spell dmg) (BRD)
Some pretty decent stats too, but again, I got myself a pair of Dreamweave gloves with +18 spell and +4 intellect. I lose some stats, but +18 spell on a single piece is a LOT to sacrifice.

---- Belt - Ban'Thok Sash - [12 spell dmg, 10 stam, 11 int, 8 spell hit] (BRD)

This belt is sweet, and I'll ask a friend to run me through BRD tomorrow! Thumbs up!

---- Pants ** - Spellshock Leggings - [23 spell dmg, 9 stam, 10 int] (+35 spell dmg and +20 stam)

Seeing as how rare they are, I decided to just keep my Necromancers leggings. I could get the shadoweave ones, but I wont sacrifice the stats on them to get an extra 11 spell damage. And I would have to buy a new spellthread too, which I want to avoid if possible.

---- Boots - Defilers Cloth Boots - [9 spell, 13 stam, 6 int, run speed] (+12 stam)

These 48 boots are actually not THAT much better than the 38 ones. They grant +3 stamina +3 intellect and a measly +1 spell extra. Not that impressive. Ill get them anyhow, since they are practically "free".

---- Ring - Gem Studded Band - [16 spell, 6 stam] (crafted)

I prefer my epic Underworld band with +14 shadow and +10 stamina.

Ring - Advisor's Ring - [12 spell, 6 stam, 4 mp5] (pvp reward)

Again, I'd rather have my Underworld band

---- Trinket - Insignia of the Horde/Alliance - [break CC] (pvp reward)
I already got this one. Its pretty much a necessity :)

---- Trinket - this depends on professions.
I'll be getting the PvP one with +7 stamina and +20 spell penetration. Pretty nice actually

---- Glowing Brightwood Staff - [15 stam, 29 int, 9 spirit, 15 NR] (+40 spell dmg) (world drop)

This staff has some good stats, but no way im giving up +26 spell damage from my Staff of Jordan. I cant see how this is better.

---- Spire of Hakkar - [18 spell dmg, 16 stam, 16 spirit] (+40 spell dmg) (world drop)

The extra stamina is good, but again, Im loosing out on quite a bit of spell damage (and have to repay for the enchant + staff cost)
This "upgrade" isnt really worth it IMO.

---- Wizard's Hand of Shadow Wrath - [10-17 shadow damage] (world drop)

I will look for this one. +17 shadow damage is HUGE, especially considering that my current wand only has +6 intellect.

Again thanks for the advice. Ill be getting the Belt, Cloak and Neck and then I'll be searching for the wand and pants.

Thanks for suggestions :)

Sounds good. I forgot how good those underworld bands really are. I had one drop in ZF and I leveld with it to 55+ when I was running MC I believe. My mage is 38 now, but I'm leveling enchanting atm on him. I should have a huge cashflow at 45, so I'll probably end up twinking him...I was looking at much of the same gear myself today lol, figured I'd help out here.

I see you focus on damage alot more then stam, thats cool. I try to balance stats a bit more, even leaning toward max stam in PVP. There were alot of pure stam/int pieces I didn't even bother to point out because I figured you were a spell damage junkie lol.

Yea I tend to focus heavily on damage because the benefit is huge when specced affliction.

The huuuge spelldamage on Drain life and siphon life makes me a tank. At level 45 I could solo most of Zul farrak, no joke (not the bosses though).

Drain life ticks for around 130 each tick, that's 650 health in 5 seconds. No mob or player at my level can outdamage that.

Stamina is wonderful (especially on a lock) but more spelldamage makes me so much more potent when spamming siphon life around, giving me more effective HP.

Twinking my lock has never been such fun, and Im not even sure ill stop by the 49 bracket anyway. I'd still gear up though, so the leveling gets so much more enjoyable.

Good luck with your mage :)

I donn't mean to be rude but i don't believe u could even solo the 1st 3 mobs lol. Don't see how a grp takes a bit of time each grp and a lvl 45 can kill everything but the boss. I've been on there on my 70 lock and the u have to kill them fast or they heal each other. SoC and Shadowfury FTW pulls by the 20s lol

I think those dropped from a mob during the scourge invasion.

Btw, there's a jewelcrafting lvl 47(I think) BOP trinket that gives something like +100 spelldmg for 20 seconds. If you're really going all out twinking, this one is a must ^^
