Lack of casual weapons for combatFollow

Alright. Casual player + rogue = solo'ing tons = Combat spec ftw. For me anyway.

I recently got an upgrade to replace my Crystalline Kopesh but it is a dagger and the damage output doesn't feel like much of an upgrade. I wasn't too keen on going from 500-1000 damage crits on SS to.. well, I haven't actually seen a crit since getting the dagger but I'm only doing SS damage at around 300-400. Also, I now have 5 wasted points in sword specialization.

So I went searching through the Armory for upgrades and could only find upgrades that would require more upgrades to obtain.

I've been trying to get the Fist Weapon from Shattered Halls but have yet to get into a group that could get to the first boss.

Am I making a mistake somewhere when searching for weapons or is the decrease in DPS just in my head? Should I focus on PVP rewards instead? Or is this just another part of the great fun WoW offers? Excuse my sulking.

SS+dagger = bad dps. If you have a dagger that you want to use, change your spec to use it properly. Spec mut(41/20/0, 41/3/17) or SF+dagger(30/26/5) and go to town. If you are primarily looking to raid or run instances you can also do standard combat daggers(15/41/5). Or if you want to try something different try a dagger sub build(17/3/41). Any of these would be better choices when mh'ing a dagger.

Grind Aldor exalted and get yourself a vindacators brand. In all honesty, it is the best pre raid sword in the game as far as main hand weapons go. If you are not up for arena PvP (in which case you can get a merc glad sword set), this is what I would shoot for. I personally did my scryer grinding very fast. Do all the quests you can first (there are aldor quests in various zones, including shadowmoon valley and netherstorm). After that turn in marks and fel armaments. You will want to have that exalted shoulder enchant for the rest of your rogue days anyway (30ap and 10 crit to shoulder).... so you would have to either grind scyer or aldor rep eventually. On the way to exalted you will also get a decent ring from rep (I think it is at revered).

In any case, that rout is your best bet outside of raiding and PvP. The sword is well worth putting mongoose on. I would also consider grinding black morass for latros shifting sword to put in your offhand (assassination gloves and the hourglass of the unraveler also drop in BM). Running these two swords is a very powerful combination, and admittedly, they would be adequate for running 25 man raids in the future if you eventually wanted to go that rout!

Good mainhand sword drops off last boss in normal Mechanar (Edge of Cosmos)
Good offhanders are Latro sword off last boss in Black Morass or Revenger off first boss in botanica

Since you are more of a casual player, I would say that if you are Aldor get to exhalted. In SMV at legion hold, the wrathwalkers are basically made out of paper and have a good drop rate for marks and fel armaments imo.

As for instance drops, ManusDei is right on the money as far as swords go. Edge of the Cosmos is pretty nice for the decent top end/crit/AP and then there's latros. 1.3 speed, agi, AP, not to mention one of the best looking swords imo-this alone is definately worth running Black Morass to get. Arcatraz and Botanica have good mainhand/offhand fist weapons respectively, if you wish to head that route.

In terms of questing rewards, I looked it up and it looks like there is practically nothing of value for combat swords/fists(outside of the Ripfang Paw in Netherstorm iirc). Generally, the swords I seen are way too fast to get a good hit out of SS like you are looking for. Daggers are definately more predominant and looks as if blizzard wants rogues to be dagger oriented.

Arena is probably the most rewarding casual activity in this game. You can get by playing 1.5-2 hours a week and get Tier 5 equivalent epics.

If you have any time to run instances, you have time to run arena.

decent MH sword? go pvp

71 dps blue sword, no reason not to get it if your casual... its maybe a week of good bg farming to get the MH and the OH

other then that... aldor rep is a option, though money/time consuming imo... arena is easy but also slow... mechanar? i think? has a 71 dps blue sword (edge of the cosmos)

arcatraz has a great MH fist, sethekk halls has a decent MH mace.. sort of..

Personally I am not much of a PVPer, so naturally I forgot about arena. Arena weapons just put a hurting on everything-not to mention have pretty much any stat you could ask for other then spirit for kicks and pandas. From what I hear, just doing the minimum amount of games gets you points. That way, you could get some 88 DPS swords and be hitting like a truck.

I just had a thing for fast mainhand weapons since the days of the Warblades of the Hakkari, I miss the old days =(

I think I might PVP a bit just so I can get the offhand to match my Vindicator Brand. With the way the arena system works, even casual players can get some nice gear without having to deal with the trouble of finding a raiding guild. Anyways, hope you found what you were looking mamosa and good luck with the weapon hunt!

I'm already exalted with Scryer, was focused more on enchanting when I made the choice, it would take me a long time to get the stuff to become exalted with Aldor. I'd never get my epic mount.

With the time I had to play today I did a bit of rep grinding with Kurenai/Consortium as well as got into a Sethekk Halls group. The group failed because we had two warriors that thought they were the **** and charged without letting the rogues sap. Then one of them DL'd.

So I'm feeling that if I can't even get into groups that can finish Sethekk, my chances of getting into BM or Mech are slim to nil. Makes me feel like I'm not equip'd well enough, still using greens, whatnot.

Amoung the few already mentioned, the higher up ones are from arena, or heroic SH, or from the first boss of The Eye.

There is no lack of weapons for casuals, unless you think a regular 5man instance is hardcore.

When it takes 3-4 hours to find a group and run an instance, I do think that is too extreme for me. I don't find it hardcore just as time consuming to the point I can't get them done.

But I've been running Mech fairly smoothly these past days so we'll see if I can get the damn cosmo sword to drop. No assassination tunic either, bummer.
