Gear question Spellstrike Hood or 2-piece T4 (head+pants)Follow

#1 Jul 05 2007 at 5:31 AM Rating: Decent
It figures that as I get my spellstrike hood made last week (after all of the grinding/farming), I go on a Kara run on Tuesday and get the T4 headpiece handed to me (everyone else had theirs). This makes a two-piece set bonus for me (no interruption on frostbolt/fireball) which I like a lot, although it puts out a little less damage than the spellstrike hood (I may need to re-calculate after I hadd in the 15spelldmg meta gem though).

On a side note, I do not have the spellstrike pants, so the bonus for that is moot.

Which would you go with?

Get the pants made FFS :P

Spellstrike hood is my "hurting cap" where i need to break some knee caps and T4 helm is my farming hat where i can just shoot away.

Spellstrike most of the time even without the pants

I'd use T4 on fights where you'd expect to get interupted some (Curator is a perfect example)

Id also use T4 for PvP if you don't have a real PvP piece yet.

good reasoning. I will definitely hold onto my spellstrike hood. I will see what I can do about getting those pants made. I just have a lot more farming to do.

Well, I use Spellstrike, and am skipping T4 and 5 completely, they really aren't that good if you are a tailor.

i have 3 t4 and only wear the shoulders. i use spellfire + spellstrike most of the time. if i need extra hp, i wear t4 hat and trial-fire trousers.

against same or lower level mobs (i.e. farming) i use t4 because it has high stats and the spellhit on spellstrike becomes useless. in spellstrike i have nearly 10% to hit.

An interesting and awesome tidbit re: spellstrike:

Unlike many procs, the set bonus does not have a hidden cooldown.

Sometimes it procs for me before the previous proc has finished its 10sec duration! The set bonus kicks ***.

Shame about no meta slot though. 2.5 second arcane missiles is nice with half casting speed meta.....

confirmed as well

I use Spellstrike set and confirm that it's also a fairly common Proc Rating ..love it to pieces and I feel it's like a 4.5 set piece but definately up there with Tier 5 and good since non-raiders can get great gear and damage without raiding

going as a Frost mage

Frozen Shadoweave Set full Runed Living Rubies (+9sp)
Spellstrike Set
Girdle of Ruination
Bracers of Havokk
PvP Gloves/Tempst Touch/Incanters Wraps
Trinkets from Arc and Trinket from BM
25 Badge Necklace

anywhere I can put a gem in it's going to get +9 sp .. I'm at 1006 unbuffed atm and missing the Frozen Shadoweave Chest and the Girdle along with Better Rings and Trinkets and could use a better MH and OH
