Great thread by the way Aethien, been refering people to this post for a while now. Some top info. The Macro`s will be interesting, not used any at all uptill this point. Keep it up.

Don't know if it was above mentioned in all the posts, but another ranged weapon that could be added is the "Ornate Khorium Rifle" that you can have your friendly, neighborhood, 375 engineer craft for you. It looks pretty spiffy, and has +agi.

Ok this is driving me nuts. How the heck do you get 1700-1800 RAP with the gear you have listed for a BM hunter? I think I have pretty good gear at this point - half epics with most of the enchants you have listed and I am at about 1260 AP w/o AotH and 1410 with it. Even if I replaced all my crit and agility gems with AP gems I would still only add about 100 AP to this. How are people achieving this number with a BM spec hunter? Here is my armory page:

the numbers are things to aim for, and they are relatively high.
but with 4 epics (2 from heroics, necklace from badge and wrists from attumen) i'm at 1685 AP with close to 20% crit, a little over 7k HP, 6.7k mana and about ~30 Mp5.

Looking at your gear, first thing i noticed are the 2 completely sh*t trinkets.
They might be epic, but besides the 50 stamina and 30 crit they only give things after combat.

then you have the PvP boots, but again there are a lot of offstats on that (high armor, high stamina, resillience) and you have them enchanted with +8 stamina.
Change that for +12 agility.

Then you've got (in my opinion) one of the worst epics available: the leggings of beast mastery.
It gives very little AP for yourself and most of its worth is for your pet.
Who would get an upgrade anyway from any AP and Stamina you have (about 30% i believe)
Then again, PvP gloves wich spend worth on Armor and a lot of stamina, resillience and worthless things like the multishot bonus (you should harldy use multi as BM)

You have 10k hp, 7k mana and 25% crit while your priority should be AP.

If its your PvP gear i'm seeing, then you have way to much mana.
In PvP you die a lot, so mana doesnt matter there (about 4k should be enough)
While you want as much stamina as you can get (aim for over 11k unbuffed) and crit isnt as important either.

We're hunters right? ;) How about adding ammo pouches and quivers to the list? I figured if the quiver or ammo pouch didn't increase firing rate by 15% it wasn't worth including.

Smuggler's Ammo Pouch is available at honored with the Consortium for both Alliance and Horde
Clefthoof Hide Quiver is available from the Maghar at honored for Horde
Worg Hide Quiver is available at honored with the Kurenai for both Alliance and Horde
Harpy Hide Quiver is available for both Alliance and Horde from PvP in Alterac Valley

Items arent in any particular order, m,ainly because those orders are different per spec and i dont really want to start making 3 lists ;)

and i wont include ammo pouches/quivers simply because you NEED an 18 slot and thats all there is to it, doesnt matter wich one.

Update!

- changed the title =O, since half (if not more) of teh list wasnt really gear anymore the new title fits better imo.
- added a large number of heroic drops and a few epic leather pieces.
- added macro's (more are very welcome, mainly ones for shooting cycles)
- added a note about quivers/ammo pouches.
- corrected some spelling errors.
- added epic hunter gems (just need to add those that come from PvP)

I'll add in BoP crafted gear later with a fitting mark before it (*BoP*)
I'm thinking of adding marks behind the 'best' pieces for each spec (*BM*, *MM*, *SV*) but i'll need some help for that so i might make another topic to choose those.

Thanks to all people who helped me extend this list and more gear/enchants/macro's/tips to be added are always welcome.

Same thing counts if you think something doesnt belong here, please say so.

[sarcasm]and looking forward to doing it all again from scratch in a couple of months when WotLK is released[/sarcasm]

Some more toolbar space saving macros I've been using successfully. I've grouped all the tracking skills into three macros, cutting 8 spaces into 3. Of course you can swtich with track is triggered by which button.

Track Beasts
/cast [button:1] Track Beasts
/cast [button:2] Track Demons
/cast [button:3] Track Dragonkin

Track Humans
/cast [button:1] Track Humanoids
/cast [button:2] Track Undead
/cast [button:3] Track Hidden

Track Biggies
/cast [button:1] Track Elementals
/cast [button:2] track Giants

its already in there, all that changes is what you type after [button: 1] etc.
Although i am thinking of removing them since they have nothing to do with raiding.

Just wondering, and this is based entirely off if you feel like doing it.

Could you explain the difference between Desolation and Beast Stalker sets.

I'm brain dead right now and I'm comparing the two and I'm guessing that Desolation is for SV/PVP and Beast Stalker is for BM/PVE.

Am I right or am I just not making the connections?

the difference between Beast lord and Desolation is that
a: desolation isnt geared specifically towards hunters
b: desolation is more focused on AP then Beastlord
c: desolation is way harder to get =P (heroics n stuff)
So for an MM or BM hunter they can very well be better then Beastlord, but you'd lose the awesome trap bonus.

and if you want it stickied you'd have to go to Azuarc cuase i sure as hell cant sticky anything ;)

Fantastic thread! :)

However I noticed there is a lack of information on +hit and its importance in life after 70. I have been doing some research trying to prepare myself for the jump into endgame and I found some good information over on the BRK blog.

Quote:
Keep in mind that when fighting 70+ elites that your hit rating becomes more and more important. Missing frequently on a lvl 73 mob will begin to affect your dps, and can be a critical issue if for example your silencing shot or trap pull shot misses.

I've read that optimal +hit rating for anyone in Kara onwards should be between 90-130.

Edit: Spelling error. >.<

so desolation is > than BL, but harder to get?
So since im a BM hunter is should i get full BL cus of kill command effect (Even though it realy don't have much to do with BM), or get desolation when i can?

Kill command bonus from4 BL pieces is pretty damn worthless.
Desolation is a lot better for raiding (BM/MM) because it has a lot more +hit and bonuses that focus on extra dmg.
However, a lot of pieces are at the back end of (tough) heroics where there are epic rewards too.

Great thread. The only downside seems to be it assumes you'll be lucky with drops in instances. This is not always the case.

On the one hand, I've got the Beast Lord Curiass with only 1 run of Botanica, yet I'm still stuck with green boots as better ones simply refuse to drop, and I've lost count of the times I've run Steamvaults, yet Kalithresh absolutely refuses to drop my shoulders.

this column on Wowinsider:
http://www.wowinsider.com/2007/09/12/bigredkitty-gear-up-for-karazhan/
Has some alternate suggestions for filling the gaps with the AH or from guild crafters.

Of course, it still doesn't give me any option for my green boots >.>

Sadly I'm not LW, I'm an Engineer, which gives me some rather spiffy goggles to soften the blow of wearing crappy greens on my feet :)

Ok, amd I the only one that doesn't see it? I guess not... Why is the Ebon Netherscale set not in there? You didn't even put it under the Craftables... Boots of the Crimson Hawk isn't in there either...

Aethien... you have failed!
