Best 29 Twink?Follow

#1 Apr 03 2007 at 9:06 PM Rating: Decent
I am looking to twink a 29 Shaman for BG and wanted some opinions...

1. What are the best stats to get? +Stamina for staying alive and maybe flag running? Is agility a must or is it just a good supplement? Is +Intel worth getting or would I rather blow my mana and run up with a bunch of +Str?

2. What roll do you normally fill in WSG and AB? Does a Shaman make a good flag carrier?

3. Is casting better or melee better... leading us to question 4

4. What spec would you go? Keep in mind this is only to lvl 29 but is resto good to stay alive are for dps which is better elemental or enh?

5. What gear do you normally have... more specifically weapons. 1h and shield or 2h or staff?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!!! :)

1. theres two ways to do it depending no your play style, you can either buff up on str for good constant-ish/burst damage, or +agil and get more crits. or you can simply get a lot of both, with +stam. +stam is very important btw. you CAN forget about int but some int would be helpful

2. Shaman sometimes make a good FC, but the reason druids are better FC's is because when we go in ghostwolf, its purgeable/dispellable, but at 29 i guess were the best out there since druids don't have travel form. but for WSG you can either go offense or defense. we make a a pretty good FC support too because of earthbind totem and frostshock, and especially heals. in AB thats all up to your gourp, but you can defend and be in offense shaman are very flexible.

3. At 29 Melee is better

4. Since you don't reap much benefits from elemntal until later levels, it's a lot better to go enhancement spec.

5 if you do go enhancement, im going to recommend 1h with rockbiter + shield since you don't have windfury and with a shield youll have good survivability.

hope this helped :D

Thank you very much... many of my questions were answered. Baisically I am going enhancment for melee damage but my stat points are going to focuse a little more toward stamina for flag running. Everythign else will probably be a mix of str and agil unless someone says otherwise.

can't wait!

I wouldn't bother with 29 shaman.

39 would be awesome, though.

why would 39 be awesome?

You could get all the super amazing enchants but I don't have that kind of money yet :(

At 39 shaman have Wind Fury, which is aton of burst damage (if it actually procs >:( ). At 29 your left with Frostbrand which is about 80 dmg or so.

So should I go 39 instead? Which one will bring me more Ownage??? :)

petewind are u serios? any good shamman always spams purge when fighting. espcialy against casters. i whenever i see a GW carrying i purge him out. i also have a priest and a mage and fighting shammys is the most annoying thing b/c of purge.

since enh. shaman is better for pvp in 20-29 bracket, how does this build look?

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=uZxVbdV

1 pt in 2H axes and maces since i read that corpsemaker is the best possible weapon before lvl 30.

an armory link to a lvl 29 enh shaman twink would help a lot.

thx.

If your with a group i fail to see the importance of ghost wolf. the speed boost means nothing if your allies cant keep up with you to save your sorry ***.

(and i personally like the cobalt crusher over the corpsemaker, but if you dont have the money the corpsemaker is fine.

In leveling my Shammy, I got the best gear I could from instances and leatherworkers (barbaric bracers, triprunner dungarees, etc) and some smaller enchants free from a friend of mine...I wasn't a full twink, buut I wasn't half bad. I found that a druid in kitty form talented to have the extra speed could almost keep up with me...it was close enough, at least. Druids and Shammys running together made flag carrying a breeze...and none of the shammys/priests I played against EVER purged my ghost wolf...so not everyone's that smart, lol. I had 1h mace and shield, ele spec (just for fun while leveling...again, not BG specific), and was consistently at the top of the charts for kills and heals. I do have a 19 shammy twink, so I don't know if that helped or not :P

The point being, shammys are quite fun at 29 :D

Wowish, I would drop the 2 points in enhancing totems and put em in imp lightening shield.

Also guys, I would reccomend 39 due to the fact that most heavy enchants are for 35 and above weapons. also you could drop a 30 stam 10 agility enchant on the legs

I've just started a 29 sham twink. Last night ran the flag many times in many games, quiet well for the most part. I had many a priest DoT cast on me - wasn't dispelled once!

Though I suppose it will eventually happen.

Enhancement sham gear - try something like this:

Hat: enduring cap w/ 100 hp libram
neck: I haven't decided yet - any sta/int/str combo
chest: Raptor Hunter Harness (sp?) - hemmit nessingwary jr quest, stv
pants: any boe w/ either clefthide or silver spell thread (like of the eagle) (edit , or you can go crazy and use petrospil or trollhide)
shoes: AB boots for sta and speed
cape: rep bought cape from Ghostlands or tiger strike
gloves: razzeric racing grips, panther or tiger hunter, or of the eagle
belt: AB belt or moss cinch
shoulder: watchman pauldrons
rings: both from sfk, one from baron, one from quest to kill arugal
wrist: barbaric (I think)

Weapon: Corpsemaker from rfk, Cobalt Crusher (2hmace) (I think that's what it's called) or any 1h and Marbled shield, quest in RFK. Dreamslayer or Dreamsmasher is a good one hand mace.

What's funny is that w/ all the above, when I finish my enchants (which I haven't done yet), I might only have 500 hp over my lvl 19 twink, maybe not that good! Hah.

Some tips for Shaman Bg (coming from someone who is still very much learning):

Remember to PURGE. If people come in with huge buffs from higher lvl chars, w/ potion-given buffs, etc - knock em off! Certain classes are badly hurt by purges.

Don't waste your shocks. Save them for the right moment:

Rogue - I always fire shock to DoT them - if they vanish, spam tab. They'll be back w/in a few seconds.

Any caster - earthbind to slow them - safe shock of earth to interrupt a key spell, like heal, polymorph, fear, etc.

War - I do highest dps shock or frost to slow him. I'm still working out what to do here.

That's just a few - not sure how helpful they are. GL.

Corpsemaker, for me, is a lot easier to get. Not too far into RFK, seems to drop more often than not.

I've never seen the 2h mace you posted drop in Gnomer. If you can get a high lvl friend to run you through Gnomer til it drops, it is nice. Corpsemaker is a fine weapon, however. If you want to buy one on the AH, cobalt crusher (sp?).

Theres way few twinking guides for shammies out there and i was wondering what the policy was on spell damage at this level?

i'd had an old Resto shaman then swapped em over to enhancement for leveling, all the Int gear stayed. and i find myself running the BGs droping fire nova totems and casting various shocks without much concern for my mana pool, and score within the top 3 pretty consistently in damage dealers. (thanks are due to corpsemaker, of course)

I was thinking getting some Enchant weapon: spell power and Mystic spellthread

my question is, has anyone had any success with this, and what percent of spell damage is added to flamtongue procs if any?

tbh manual crow pummeler
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.ht...source=live

is better than corpse maker

No it is not, a Shammy looks for a slow weapon with a high damage per hit, not a high dps. The manual crowd pummeler hits for 46 - 70, Corpsemaker hits for 88 - 132, it's min dmg is higher than the pummelers max.

Corpsemaker wins hands down (even more so after 30 when you have WF).
