Index of Mage GuidesFollow

Due to the increasing number of guides on this forum, this post has been put together to serve as an index with links to each of the various guides available.

I will do my best to keep this index up-to-date, and ask that anyone who finds these guides useful to bump this thread to keep it on the first page. That way, we only need to keep one post bumped instead of bumping each guide individually and cluttering the first page of the forum.

If I have made any mistakes or if you know of some other good guides that can be added, please reply to this thread or PM me. Thank you very much :D

Leatherpatches' Frost AOE Grinding Without Taking Damage
A detailed guide on how to AoE Frost grind. A must-read for anyone interested in trying this leveling method.

Kamuii's List of AOE Spots for Mages
A good list of possible Frost AoE grinding spots. The thread includes good feedback and comments from various mages who have tried various spots listed.

Talent Progression Guide
A guide listing different builds for PvE/PvP and the suggested order in which to get the talents. Includes a detailed talent progression for Frost AoE grinding.

Guide: Mage Talents Discussed
A guide discussing the pros and cons of each talent in all three mage talent trees.

Guide: Arena PvP Talent Builds
A guide written from a 5v5 Arena PvP point of view. Discusses popular build archtypes, unconventional builds, and takes a look at top ranked Arena mages and their tweaked builds.

The Greatest Mage Post Ever
Baron von Filterspawn's work-in-progress mage FAQ. Intended topic coverage: Talent Review, Talent Specs, What to spec first as you level, and What race truly is best for mage.

Easy / Solo-able Gear for the New 70 Mage
A list of good level 70 gear that can be easily obtained solo.

A mistake regarding the difficulty of obtaining Evoker's Helmet of Second Sight has been fixed in "Easy / Solo-able Gear for the New 70 Mage". Also made an important note regarding socket and gem color matching.

P.S. Am I the only one using this index? I'll stop bumping if it's not useful. Thanks.

I don't use it, but it could be worthy of a sticky IMO for reference.

Sticky Denied at this point. Kaolian suggests we try and get it added to the Mage FAQ sticky.

Thanks Poldaran. I agree that this post in itself doesn't have enough "meat" to get it stickied, so please just incorporate it into the new FAQ you'll be writing.

Kaolin can fall in a spider pit. This is worthy of a sticky as it is a quick reference guide, and shouldn't be buried within 3 pages of FAQS.

If Rehana gives me stewardship of the Mage FAQ, I'll be keeping it fairly "As is", though I'll work to complete and update it as necessary.

But I may not have been the first to offer, so I'll browbeat whomever else gets it if that's the case to add in this directory.

anyone have a good thread about twink gear / spec??

I'm not sure exactly why, but I never liked twinks and twinking in general... so I've never looked into it. If someone puts together a good guide, I'll add it to this index :D

On a side note...

The "Easy / Solo-able Gear for the New 70 Mage" guide has been updated with a post about soloable PvP gear and also updated with two suggestions for your Finger slot.

I see several threads on first page asking about specs, grinding, leveling, etc.
So I think it's time to bump this back on the first page again :P

I'm all in favor of keeping this on the first page so the thread is easier to find among a clutter of threads, but it's also easier to find relevant info if the clutter of posts within the thread is kept to a minimum, so I recommend simply editing an existing post whenever it needs a bump. (If I'd already posted in it, that's what I'd be doing with this one.)

Wow, page 3 of the forums :(
I leave for 2 weeks and my beloved index gets the shaft lol j/k

/bump

To my knowledge, editing a post doesn't bump it to the top of the forum.
And besides, the only relevant info is in the first post of the thread anyway. No need to read the rest :) lol

Hmm...sorry if it's looking like a ress or something, but I really think this thread must be sticky or at least stay always on the first page. This thread is so helpfull for the new guys here that I couldn't let it simply die.

See ya
