Thanks for the frost write-up baron. I know have even more knowledge at my disposal as far as being a frosty is concerned. When you have some more time I think you should share your wealth of knowledge with us about how to use ice block as an offensive spell. That would be fantastic.

this is great at last the wisdom is passed down to us i can finally choose a good spec knowing how effective every talent is thanks filter.

Great post as always filter.

One thing: you imply blast wave is a stun when its actually only a snare (both on the blast wave point and again on the dragons breath point)

very enjoyable read ^^ mostly for the humour :p

Well, DB is a disorient, and I believe the technical term for Blastwave is daze. I used stun as a generic term, forgetting about it's further usage in WoW.

Will research and get them both aptly named.

You are right. Daze is the right term. It is a movement restriction (50%, I think).

No need, it's worth the wait & I know how you feel. Should probably stop reading the site and do some work myself. On-topic, i'd also appreciate some insight into IB's offensive usage. I've played a little frost but mainly in PvE and therefore only popped it when I pull aggro.

Edit; I realise you asked for PM's, but since i'm the second person in the thread to ask it may be easier to throw it into the post.

i believe he is refering to using ice block after summoning the water elemental not sure though in that way it does become and offensive spell your invincible while your elemental is dealing a good chunk of damage.

Thank you Thank you FilterSpawn. Your Talent tree guide has finaly given me, Baby Mage my name, the courage and understanding to try and do my own build (and have some measure of faith in it this time).

So I have only one tiny tiny request: Can I have some extra points to spend pls? pretty please? :D

Later Edit: Your guide is so good that i´ve been editing my build and this post here for the last 15 minutes

What is this build aimed at? Pvp or pve? It's currently is not ideal for either.

Mostly PvE, solo with some instances in between.

Same deal as Improved Fireball, lessens the damage you do with the spell, but makes it cast faster. If you spec Frost, you have this. A big nuke that is only 1 second longer to cast than Scorch is pretty badass, especially given it's slowing capabilities.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Im sry but I am a Newb and I don't get it, Points in Imp Frosbolt means that I am losing dmg in order to have a faster cast time?? So, I should NOT put any points in it or is the reduction in dmg not significant? Or do I just not understand?? (wouldn't be the 1st time for me)

If you want to go deep arcane/fire for pve then try this:

If you want to go deep fire/arcane for pve then try this:

They probably aren't perfect, but for mainly solo pve they are the best I could come up with. They will serve you better than the one you designed.

This just goes to show that knowing about the strengths and weaknesses of individual talents isn't sufficient for a player to create a decent build. You need to know more about your playstyle and the mechanics of the game, this take time.

Or for someone to tell exactly how to spec :)

Bring on the talent specs.

Bluecorsair, yes it does lower the damage done by you frostbolt/fireball. Overall it is still a DPS increase for the spells as the faster casting time increases your DPS more than the reduction in damage decreases it.

So you will still be doing more damage by picking these than not (otherwise they would be pointless talents).

It just means the spells do less DPS than they did before the reduction in damage from the talents was introduced.

Taking improved fireball/frostbolt bring it back to about where it was before the damage reduction, but not including improved fireball/frostbolt in this calculation as that was crazy damage that cannot be reached anymore.

I think it was the combination of the old improved fireball/frostbolt and improved fireball/frostbolt that lead the nerf, mages were overpowered in raids apparently.

I hope this all made sense.

If any of you mages pick up on any mistakes feel free to correct me.

Edit: grammer, silly me.

Thanks Wowtrollmage. I have reconsidered my build and decided on this:

I have to say that I find Impact far more useful to me than Imp.FB.
