Spell Power
Another very good Arcane talent, even better than its brethren in the Frost tree -- Ice Shards -- because it boosts the spell critical damage of all your spells; not just Frost. When paired with...

5/5 ice shards adds 100% of your crit bonus, 2/2 spell power adds another 50% of your crit bonus. This means crits do 225% of normal damage with ice shards + spell power, and 245% (after 4 seconds) with ignite + spell power.

I understand the 225% of normal dmg with ice shards + spell power. Using the same logic, it seems to me that crits with ignite + spell power gives 215% (150% w/o talents + 40% with ignite + 25 % with spell power) of normal dmg.

What am I missing?

Ignite is after the crit damage.

So it's 150%+25% = 175% + (175% x 40%) = 175% + 70% = 245%.

My only comment is that arctic winds is an awesome talent not just because reduced chance of being hit but also because 5 percent dmg increase...so that would make it awesome for pvp or pve, but maybe I have it wrong?...Does it mean 5 percent dmg increase or something else?

it definitely is a good talent.

This guide was made before that happened, iirc.

WTF is with the comment on arcane subtlety?

Bosses very rarely have any resistance after Curses. It's marginally useful on one boss (depends on spec which one). The useful part is the arcane - threat. the other part isn't even worth mentioning, really.

That's as far as I got, but I assume the rest of the guide is as bad. D'oh.

The talent has not changed since then.

Just to bump this as it is the best guide of all the classes , at least i can see how to get the frost talents , and the best order to do them in , i wish other guides would do it in the same way

thanks

I dont see how this is any better or much different than the GMPE.

Also, I thought they removed the damage tax from improved fireball and frostbolt talents.

They did. This guide is old. It was good for its time, let's leave it alone instead of bumping it.
