Hello, I am a new Rouge. I am just starting out and have a few questions about our class. I wanted to ask here for the chance that a well explained answer might be given. Since this is such a well made guide.

First off, in a PvP setting. What other classes should a stealthed Rouge keep an eye out for? I know Hunter's have Stealth Track, and Warlocks have a Paranoia spell. But are there any other classes to worry about detecting me as I sneak? What are there limits? How well can Hunter's and Locks track me? Can I make my stealth so strong no one can see me ever?

Second, how does the Stealth ability work? I use the ability in PvP or outside, and am detected if I walk in front of a mob or anywhere around the other Faction. They seem to see me right away. Like I was running around naked danceing. Does my LvL matter? What about Master of Deception talents? I was hoping to sneak around more effectivly as Rouge, but I am discovered quickly. Also how long does the Stealth effect need to kick in? Like how many seconds do I need till I am completely hidden and fade into the shadows?

Third has to deal with Talant builds for One hit kills. Is it possible for me to sneak up behind a heavy armored class. Like Warrior or Pally. With out them knowing I am there, and drop them with one hit or a few, in a matter of seconds with out them being able to counter my attacks? Does anyone recommend a certain talent build for this? Any tips would be great for my path choice.

Forth is about Races. How does a Night Elf's Shadowmeld effect a rouge? I didn't understand how it enhanced stealth. Since it cancels stealth out, and vice versa. Also, How effective is an Orc's Blood fury? Is it difficult to cast before a sneaked attack, if I am trying to remain as unseen as possible?

Basicly, I am looking to build a Rouge that can sneak around very well. Bring down mobs in seconds, and stay alive long enough to help in BGs. I have built a Night Elf, Orc, and Undead Rouge so far. To test the waters first. But am having trouble deciding with racial abilities will benifit my wants later down the road. Thank you to all who offer help.

Some info. about me.

Night Elf Rouge Level 16

Orc Rouge Level 11

Undead Rouge Level 11.

None with much talant points so they are in Malice, and Master of Deception. TO help in BGs once I hit 19. I can respec as needed.

ps, Is there a need for the lvl 10 rouge quest or just a dagger/want?

Thanks again,
Thy

Pss, What Races are you?

Yeah, I just dug that guide up out of the depths of my favorites folder. It's a good guide for what quests to do and what ones aren't worth the time. I'm not following it to the letter by any means, but it's a fairly good outline =D.

Picked up close to 30k in ten minutes of handing in quests, all of which I finished in an hour. Not too bloody shabby, heh.

Near as I can tell (and I am still just a noob Rog) you CANNOT pickpocket friendly targets.

Nooble, if you haven't already, can you add the stuff on diminishing return timers for Rogue stuns/disables?

This has been asked a good amount recently.

Are you planning on adding a section for Rouge Addons for effeciancy on leveling?
It would be very helpful to me,because as of now i really only have general mods, but here's a few i think are great for any class, not just rogues:
Titan Panel - Great for showing your XP/Hour;Current Coordinates;Bagslots used/totsl;Money(w/out having to open bags);andit shows the time in the top right corner.

Mobinfo2 - Great forlooking back on a mob you've already fought, expecially if a freind asks you "How much XP does this elite have?" simply type /mi2,click search database, type in monster name, check elite, and wah-la!

These are just my opinion on good mods

Yeah, there are a lot of things I need to add, but I just don't have the time right now. I was very sick for about a week and missed two of my midterms and one programming assignment, so I spent the last two weeks making those up, and now I've got my current work to catch up on that I had to neglect to do my makeup.

I'll get to it when I get a chance, thanks for the suggestions. Keep 'em coming.

Concerning the sample builds: I am currently a level 20 Undead Rogue - my first character (PVP server Shadowmoon). I have only spent 5 talent points.

Say I want to go the route of the ZOMG ONESHOT build. Do I start spending my talent points NOW (from levels 10 to 60) in accordance with that build, or is it reccommended that I go some other route (like the level 40 combat swords build), and respec to the ZOMG build at a much higher level? I read item #5 in your post, but I wanted to get more clarification.

Also, what is "grinding"? Sorry, I'm new to this. Maybe there is a glossary of terms, but I could not find it.

I commend you on you written communication skills. I notice you are in college. Your clarity and knack for documentation will prove valuable in the business world (business requirements/functional requirements, etc.)

Thanks.

The one-shot build really isn't viable until you have access to virtually all the talents and a very strong dagger. The key to it is stacking damage bonuses and the attack power/agility bonuses deep in the Subtlety tree.

Grinding, by the way, is the process of killing lots of stuff to get experience. After about level 40 or so, questing starts to become worse and worse for experience gain. There are notable exceptions, and any quest that requires you kill some amount of mobs, or collect a low drop rate item, is a very good quest (frustrating, but good experience).

ok...great info and all that so where is the info of skills for Rogue beyond 300 on poison and lockpick? I don't see it anywhere.

Last question, why there isn't any more quest for the Rogues? Its a bummer for not having more to go on for Rogues. Still they are awesome character to play.

First...amazing Guide but i have a small thing to add.
IF you decide to make a Shadowstep Build (Here its Called ZOMG!! Build :D ) You should think about taking an Orc cause Blood Fury will give you at Lvl 70 ca 270ATK Power which means roughly around 200+ more on your Ambushes. Also the Stun Resist is very very nice.

Just wanted to add that.

Updated the guide a bit, and added some level 70 builds. I don't have time to do anything else at the moment, but I'll try to get this thing back up to date soon. Finals are this week and next week, so I have been, and will continue to be, rather busy.

Thank you! Your Guide helped a little about what other items I should get. I knew of most for my twink but this helped me fill in the blanks. So thank you for taking the time to post this.

A few more minor updates. Some changes to numbers that were based on being level 60 (such as recommending 1000+ AP for Hemo, when a good Hemo build should now have at least 1800).

Next stop, talents. That section took me a couple days to write, and will take as long to update and clarify.

Is it possible to have a Combat Daggers build to rival Combat Swords?

I was thinking since with all that crit and blade flurry...Daggers could do some damage...

please clarify?

Dwarf
- Racial Ability: Stoneform. 8 Second immunity to poisons, diseases and bleed effects, as well as 10% increased armor. 3 minute cooldown. Nice to use before a Vanish so you don't get knocked out instantly due to Warrior/Rogue DoTs. Not much other use for a Rogue.
- Racial Traits: Gun Specialization (+5 Gun Skill), Frost Resistance (+10 Frost Resistance), Treasure Finding (activate to show treasure chests on the minimap, no cooldown)

Probably has the least useful abilities and traits for Rogues, though any race can make an effective Rogue.

I just have to dissagree with this, Stoneform is 2nd only to WotF. Stoneform covers almost everythign CloS doesnt, it is 100% (CloS is 90%) and its 3 seconds longer, +10% armor is'nt all that great but its not a slow effect anyway.

Treasure finding highlights all of the quest objectives in Outlands such as "find these items spread across this area"... never miss a chest in an instance, and makes leveling LP a sinch.

I'm sure its a good guide, just had to disagree with this point.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Increased stealth, huge AP bonus, large increase in attack speed, Perception to find other Rogues, breaking snaring effects, all of these things are better than dropping bleeds every 3 minutes. It's a nice ability, but I still say it's the weakest.

Combat daggers is the number 1 raiding build. It's pretty awful at everything else. The worlds worst CP generation combined with having to be behind your target make the build terrible for leveling, and worse for PvP. Unless somebody's tanking for you, you'll find that you're not doing very much damage at all.

heh, I guess I'm bias...
From the looks of all the "What class is da l337357" threads on the WoW forums, I thought it was common opinion. Good thing, the less Dwafs the better. I don't really care to be another of the zillion NE rogues : 0

oh, and your Combat Swords build doesn't have Imp SS?

I am pretty much of a noob, but I am learning, maybe in several years I can step down as mayor of NOOB town. That being said I have 2 questions

You mentioned that Hand weapons aren't shown any love and that they are pretty rare, I am intrigued. Do you have any tips on where to find good hand weapons, and are there enchantments that can make them better? I am also wondering if you choose to make use of hand weapons is it something you can stick with even to level 70, or is something that as you reach higher level you will eventually be forced away from? Any thoughts?

Also many people talk about re-specing their talents as they increase in level, and I am curious if there is any general rules about when it its time to respec. I realize that many people go combat initally so that they can level faster. What indicators led you to decide it was time to change your talents. How many times (generally) do you re-spec your toons talents?
