o mutilate wont work with fist weapons...cuz its a dagger required move?.right.

Yep.

is there any plus in using fist weapons?

You don't get any special attacks like Daggers do, but if it's between an equal sword, mace and fist, there is no benefit. Go with what you like seeing your character swing at mobs.

...and also..your ZOMG(8/2/41) build sounds interesting. Can you give us an idea of weapons main/off hand?.im thinking dagger/sword.and an idea of how an open/finishing move would go..and have the talents been fixed for this build?thanks for the advice and knowledge in this.

Yes, the talents are fixed (happened the night BC was released, while I was playing with the build, no less). Basically to grind, I open with Shadowstep -> Ambush, then wait for energy to build up and use Kidney Shot, then run behind for a quick Backstab, then I usually pop Slice and Dice with my one CP to speed the killing up a tad if the mob isn't dead yet (usually has a few hundred health left). Tons of fun, and a great PvP build. Main hand weapon is of course a dagger, off hand can be anything you want, preferably something fast to get more poison procs, but it's really personal preference.

Great job on this thread.

With that said, I do have one question that could fall under the general FAQ section.

I've never respec-ed before, so I dont know what will happen to my sword/dagger skills.

Q: Will I have to skill-up sword and dagger skills again if I respec? or does that stay with me?

Thanks in advance.... my apologies if this has been asked before.

Your sword and dagger skills are exactly that, skills. They show up in your skill window just like crafting. Your talents don't allow you to use them, or change the cap (anything that changes skill adds a flat value, instead of increasing the cap). Respeccing will not reset your skills, as they have nothing to do with each other. That would be like having to retrain your professions because you respecced.

gj on this nooble, just a error on one of my favorite talents

camoflauge

you put reduces the cd of stealth 1/2/3/4/5%
ya mean 1/2/3/4/5 seconds

im sure most people knew that

BUUT thats the strength of the talent

that lowered cd on stealth is very helpful in combat restealthing

example: im runnin along on auto run, i run close to a alli mage, he aoes me out... i can gouge him, and restealth before he can do anything.. without worrying bout hangin out in the open till the 10 seconds are up

since combat takes 6 seconds to drop, general rule of thumb is get at least 4/5 in this is your gettin any amount, then combat restealthing should never be an issue

Thank you

Nooble, can you add to your guide, the information on Strength, Agility, Attack Power, Stamina and how they affect a Rogue?

I was going to, but decided to stay away from it until I knew more about how agility scaled in respect to your crit rating at 70. Also, a lot of that is very subjective, so it will be difficult to write an accurate, objective piece on gear comparison.

I, for instance, love attack power. Why? Because my damage mainstay is Ambush. I use it religiously, and my PvP encounters frequently entail nothing more than repeated Ambushes. The best way to scale Ambush's damage is with Attack Power, since it has an inordinately high crit rate already. In a different build, crit chance is much more important, as is chance to hit (my second favorite stat). I plan to write something eventually, but it will require a good bit of thought, and a great deal of explaining.

Finding a way to convince the people reading that there is no end-all, be-all stat equivalence test is another concern. I don't want people to think that I have the answer to how much stamina is 10 agility worth, or how much hit rating is 20 crit worth.

A project for another day to say the least.

Nooble,

Very nice guide. Is there a way to use the ZOMG build or at least start specing in that direct for a level 39 PvP build?

Sadly, it's completely impossible to try to do that before level 50, since the biggest key of the build is shadowstep.

Hey Nooble,

one again thanks for what i consider to be the best guide out there.
I have a question.

Do you or Theo or others plan on adding a "Sets" part to your guide? comparing the pros and con, which is "best" for PVE or PVP, comparing set stats with sockets....

what do you think?

Could you give me some feedback on this spec?

  • Basically I like the ability to choose if I want to Cheap Shot or Ambush my opponent without losing the benefit of the combat tree. I really miss having Lethality right now, but I'm not sure if it's worth it now or not.

Kudos on your updated information..however, i feel a slight correction is in need....and thats about not needing you once level 60 is reached..NOT!!!!..your insight, experience and insight will ALWAYS be needed, so just keep up the great work and advice and experience. Or be haunted forever by the vanquished souls of rogues everywhere.(or is that vanished souls).(or stealthed).??

Hey Nooble or somebody else that has experience with Hemo, how is it for PvP versus builds that focus on Mutilation or something? Can you kill things fast enough with it?

Also, I keep reading that you can re-stealth after you Gouge your opponent but the only way I've been able to do that is with Vanish, is there another way?

For some reason I blindly copied your mutilate build and realized there was a bit of an error or oversight. Probably after years of habit.

Anyway, mutilate takes the place of Backstab right? The mutilate build you have shows 3 points in imp BS which I just dont see being used.

Any reason for it that im not catching?
