sorry, main tank group...

and i really dont appreciate the lack of respect you have offered in the last two posts regarding what I have written. calling my work filth, when someone requests something, its a long thing that i wrote, there may be errors, and you pointed one out, but you dont have to be so high up on your throne to call my work filth. If you can call my work filth, then i can call your fact filth, seeing as the work I have done is longer and more indepth than this FAQ is.

Geez, no kidding, Galanda...totally not what I expected to see from you. Rate down. =(

what does mp/5 mean ?
#31 Oct 25 2006 at 3:41 AM Rating: Decent
MP/5 refers to a specific stat on gear which will regenerate a certain amount of mana (MP) every 5 seconds. Since shaman do not get a talent (until the expansion) that lets spirit regen while casting, this allows us to last a bit longer in casting situations without using the 5 second rule of stop casting and wait for spirit to kick in to regen our mana.

I could do that with the totems, but like I said previously I don't think I need to list every spell/totem and explain their uses.

However, if there is a strong demand for them to be included I will of course follow through and include it in the FAQ.

Firstly, you said you'd include totem information in the FAQ, someone provided some fantastic information on totems, and yet you haven't included it. In fact his totem information is almost as much text as your entire "FAQ". Secondly, your replies to some of the comments on your "FAQ" are unbelievably arrogant. You've dismissed people as noobs ans so one, but from your profile I see that you aren't even a lvl 60 Shaman.

If I can figure out how to use the rating system (I'm a premium member, but haven't yet tried it) I'll rate this post down.

meh, I actually tried talking to Galanda in WoW. I made a character on his server, and was promptly ignored. Not even a response back. I was polite as possible, and all I wanted to know was why he decided to flame me so. yup. the guy hates me for no reasons at all.
#34 Nov 03 2006 at 11:16 PM Rating: Default
I wouldn't take it too hard. Judging by the defensive way he's dealt with suggestions from others in this thread, I'm thinking that's just how he treats people.

BTW, what's the secret for rating posts? When I click on the rate posts button at the bottom of the forum, nothing much seems to happen.

you need to have a blue name to rate posts... kinda lame, but that discourages people to not just keep making accounts here and rating down someone to oblivion. When you get a blue name or above that, a little dropdown box appears under someones name next to their post. Then you select the rating you want to give the person and then hit rate posts.

First of all I don't hate anyone.
Second, I don't remember ever talking to you in-game.
Thirdly, I apologize for my prior comments.
Fourthly, can you guys give it up (It was like a month ago) and stop derailing the FAQ.

I think you have misstyped there. When you're reading it looks like the sam build. 20 talents points in enchantment in both builds.

I think you're clicking the same link, cuz when I do it it shows two completely different builds.

Another item you may want to note under racial abilities is the fact that blood fury also adds a bonus to the damage and healing of your spells when it's active, not sure what it is at level 60 but at level 12 it's currently +27 damage and healing

I checked a bunch of sources and all seem pretty consistent:

The plural of shaman is shamans.

That is from:

American Heritage
Encarta
Merriam Webster
Oxford English Dictionary

Totemus is an incredibly cool addon that is specific to shaman.

There's a bunch to add since release of the Burning Crusade, but this thread hasn't been touched since before then, so hopefully it'll get some attention sooner or later. :)

No intelligence for enhancement shamans? Doesn't work for me. I have quite a lot of int bonuses on my gear, mana goes down way too fast otherwise. Even if i dual wield and do good damage, i still use my shock spells a lot, put totems and heal myself if needed. I wouldn't go far without int!!

It must be different for resto and elemental shamans, i don't know really. But i think enhancement is all about that fine balance between intelligence and agility/strength stats (on top of stamina). Having it all is great, that's why i looooove my rare/epic items ;)
And having int allows me to be healer if needed. I ran whole instances as a healer with flying colors! Maybe not THE best but i got it done.
I can also be in a group for dps, so all together i'm very happy with my choice of stats!

O.K. Here is my shaman...http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Baelgun&n=Afatis Hes getting new shoulder/neck next level and I just healed some group quests so he has the wrong cloak on, must have forgotten to switch that back.
BUT...I feel like I have good stam/str/agi/int combo because I kill fast with little or no downtime, my downtime is (no kidding) the time it takes me to drink about every 20 mobs. Although that is if I can bring them in 1 at a time. If its 2 every once in a while its slightly less. The trick is to use water sheild and mana totem every time. Use shamanistic rage either every time its up or on 2 man pulls to get the full value, usually I get about 130 mana per time it procs and its like 80% proc so over the whole time I get about 2000 mana.

Use your trinkets/warstomp/racials alot, a 1 or 2 min cooldown is nothing. Always put down all totems and pull to the totems and Totemic Recall once you have the timing down to like 5 seconds because its mana efficient.

Do this and you should have VERY low downtime.
Edited: I wanted to add something on the plural form of Shaman. I use Shaman and the plural form of Shaman, its kinda like fish. :D

I know this post hasn't been updated for a while, but (RE: 1.4 - What are the most important stats for Shaman?) one of the stats I find most useful for Elemental shamans is +Crit (or +INT, which includes crit).

With high +Crit it saves us a ton of mana due to the 60% reduction mana cost of the next spell from Elemental Focus. Not only that, when we crit off of Lightning Overload or Chain Lightning, our damage output is nicely increased. Just don't die in groups lol...frost shock, kite!!

Something is not right with this thread. My rate up/rate down arrows arent working at all. Smiley: glare

And yes I liked the Totem information and I would like to see it in the FAQ. As someone who hasnt played a shaman before and wants to roll one now, totems seem a big big part of the shaman class and they are something I didnt have info on and didnt know how they work, until I read this thread.

Please un-sticky this!

This "FAQ" is misleading to new shamans; when I started my shaman this just messed me up more than it helped me.

I have started on the new FAQ, it will probably take me another day or so but I plan to have it up by the end of the weekend. If anyone has any useful links to shaman related resources or any info they particularly want me to add send me a PM (I'm covering all the obvious stuff but anything more obscure that you think I might not have thought of hehe).
