DispelFollow

Hi,

I feel a bit dumb asking this but I don’t really understand how Dispel works – I mean I know it dispels magical effects (harmful on self/party, beneficial on enemies), and I imagine that’s really powerful, but I never really know when to use it. I tend to PVE mostly and rarely see in the game if there are any Mobs to utilise it. Am I missing something? I’m sure it’s blindingly obvious.

i dont think that i've ever used dispel magic in PVE unless it involved getting rid of the odd dot on myself (e.g SW:P). Apart from this the only other time i've used it is in PVP where i have found it extremely useful debuffing other priests to take away their shields etc.

There are DoTs and snares in PvE that can be dispelled. Anything thats classified as "Magic" can be dispelled. I gnerally dont use it much on enemies, I use it on myself and my party members.

It can be used quite a bit in instances.

Dispel is great.

You fighting a caster? Sneak a dispel in there right off the bat. . .

Priests with full health lose a lot because their PW:F. Mage's dispeling their AI removes mana. Obviously, dispeling shield is important.

While PvE there is a great feature now where if you cast dispell and there is nothing to dispel, it won't let you. So just cast it on a mob the first few times you meet up and if something dispels, you know to do it infuture battles. If now, you know you can avoid it.

Great spell.

i didn't really appreciate dispel magic untill i was 60, in pvp i use it all the time, whenever i see a priest cast renew/shield i dispell it (they hate it.. since the 15 second weakened soul is still there)

in pve, there's a great amount of nasty magic effects.. in some fights in MC thats all i do, is dispel magic.. it takes some getting used to when to use it and wehn not to, but its just like the shamans purge :) and we all know how much we hate that stupids pell

How important is it to dispel status effects while in an instance?

I know that healing is my main job, but how quickly should i be about getting rid of status effects. I think that when it comes to tanks it is pretty important. Everyone else, i feel that if I have the mana and wont need it to get through the fight, then maybe. What do you guys think?

Nice, an epic thread necro. Congratulations.

In pve and raids dispelling DoTs and silences is near essential. Considering your fragile dps could be hit with a DoT for 2k every second dispelling that is alot easier and mana efficient than healing through it.

I dispel anything I can instantly. It's an obsession. Noone has ever died from the lack of heals in that 1 GCD. I can't wait until they fix it so mage's arcane buff doesn't show up as dispellable.

Lol 2 necros in one post, one 3 year necro, and one 3 day necro. Nice.

To be fair, the 3 day necro isn't as bad ... it was probably still in the upper half of the first page. Smiley: oyvey
