Pet deathFollow

I'm sorry, this is probably a stupid question but I didn't bring my game manual home with me and I can't find a place on allakazham and hotbot that really talks about it.

What do you do when your pet dies? I went afk and I came back and me and my pet were dead. Now I want to get rid of him and charm a new one, but I can't seem to figure out how to do so. When I call him, he just doesn't come and when I try dismiss it tells me I don't have any pets. What do I do to get him back or get a new one? Sorry again for the noob question, tried looking back and didn't find anyone asking this which means it's probably answered in the manual.
