Rancor is a progression/raid/social linkshell of active, mature players on Hyperion who wish to play the game to the fullest. We do not enforce mandatory play times but we do ask that our members be ACTIVE players (at least 3-4 times a week or more on average). We were created over a year before release and have had members present through all alpha and beta phases. Our main focus is to further the enjoyment of the game for our members. To this extent, we help each other throughout the game be it leveling, gathering mats for crafters, running events, and social aspects.
We build groups for SP parties, NM runs, End-game, crafting and anything else our members want. We are a laid-back group; we all want to have fun playing the game. We are semi-hardcore as a shell. We are not a "one-LS rule" group but we love if we are your main shell. We look to the group for leaders. As with anything in life, you get what you give in Rancor. We want players who are willing to pool their resources to build the group up. We want to help all our members achieve their personal goals. We use ventrillo, but it is not required for everyday use only for events. Without being able to listen in, you will be excluded.
Goals:
- Have fun while playing Final Fantasy XIV.
- Create a community of strong players and thus a strong linkshell.
- Become a largely recognized and respected shell on Hyperion.
- Introduce regular events ranging from player created events to parties and runs.

Do not detract from other players’ fun, members or not. There are a lot of trolls in the world, but they are not in this shell. If you have a problem, take it to a leader. If it’s not a member, well, trolls will be trolls. Be the bigger person and move on. We all joke around, have fun and jib a little. If you find it offensive, voice it. If it doesn’t stop, we will take appropriate action. If you are asked to stop and don’t, we will take appropriate action. Please take jokes with a grain of salt though. We don’t want to kick anyone.
Be active. Please try to play enough that you can contribute in some way. We understand that we all have RL, and we don’t expect everyone to play all the time. Let us know if you will be taking an extended absence from the game. We just want to know your still with us.
Represent yourself in a positive fashion. When you are a member of Rancor, you represent Rancor even when your crest is not up. We want to have a positive and respected LS and our members are what makes that happen. If you do not abide by this, you will be asked to leave.

The above are the founders and current leaders of Rancor. There are some members with the ability to distribute pearls as well who have been with the shell for a long time, and have thus earned that privilege and trust. We are a pretty tight group, and as the Leaders will tell you, it’s the players of the shell who really run the show. It’s important for a community to be player run, and the chain of command is really just there to give a guiding hand in helping to enjoy as many aspects of the game as possible. Remember that the leaders are here to help you, so you can come to any of us with any problems that you have.
