Karnak's 1st Grand Discussion about LinkshellsFollow

Hello there fellow Karnakians. What I want to discuss is the major topic of linkshells. We have a good amount of ones wanting to recruit people on this site, but I thought of an idea, that if works will work out for the better of the linkshells.

What I am proposing is to have the linkshells of Forest Federation, Direwolves, DivinityLS, BandoftheHand, and any others new or old still around looking to recruit to combine into one linkshell or maybe two. Why I want to do this is because we all know some members have been grayed out for a long time now and might not come back until SE does something amazing. I feel that our linkshells should form a unity that will enhance the Karnak community. To do this we need the active members on all of our linkshells to combine to have an effective community.

Why do this?
-Why recruit against each other when we could have one full unit of active members working towards the same goal under one or two linkshells.
-We all want FFXIV to succeed and we want fun. Playing with others are fun, so having a larger group of active people will make it easier to complete levequests with parties and share materials for crafting and gathering.
-We root out the players who take up the limited space that might never return.

Steps to take if people agree to this:
1. Must remake a linkshell or two if needed and have a completely new name. No forming into one already here because that might give the illusion that it failed and went crawling to a more successful one. We want to be fair so should start from a new beginning with a new name.
-If two is needed, we must use same name, but have part of it signify that it is part of the 1st one made. Ex. 1st linkshell is named Fantasy Force, 2nd would be named Fantasy Force "2", "extended", "continued" or something so others know that they are a part of this alliance of active members that want a good community on the Karnak server.

2. Vote/Decide on who will be the master of the new linkshell. The master of the new linkshell should give "leader" status to masters of the linkshells that combined to make a one unifying linkshell. The master should then choose maybe 3-10 people, to become leaders of the new linkshell in addition so we have a good amount of people able to recruit.

3. Lodestone site might be a better place for linkshell discussions. I think since people like to blog and others looking at info on the lodestone that our best idea would be to have the linkshell site(s) on the linkshell pages given to us by SE.

4. Have fun and make the unified large linkshell a success!


What if this idea passes and we go over the limit of members?
-Let's say we pick the name "Comglomerate of Karnakians". What we would do is have someone willing to lead a second linkshell that would be in both linkshells to coordinate events, and convey messages to all members. This person would HAVE to be the most active so as to get messages across to the most amount of people.

How long will this take?
-Depends on how willing people are able to accept this idea. If the idea sounds good to many then we will start discussions here until we form the actually linkshell.

How will I tell everyone and ensure people will get this from my old linkshell?
-I encourage you to copy and paste this on current linkshell sites so others can understand this decision and see what they think. Keep the old linkshell for about a month and check back once in awhile to see if any stragglers didn't get the message of this great union. After about a month unless not told directly it should be assumed that the grayed out names might not come back soon.


Sorry for this long read, but I think Karnakians can benefit from this union. Why struggle with finding active players to do fun activities with? Let's do this! It may take time, but in the end if we start now we can be a booming linkshell that never has the problem of not enough people to do things with.


Post here any questions, concerns, addons, etc. If the leaders of linkshells agree to this then our first step will be discussion on name of the linkshell.

One more clarification. Forest Federation is not gone or too small to function, it just has come victim to those gray names that just always stay gray and the player never logs on anymore. We still have lots of good members, but I am suggesting this idea so all linkshells who agree to make a great union of our active players can be together to have more fun. We will keep the most active players together and eliminate the space that people that haven't logged in a month+ take up.
