6" screen on the controller? Sounds like fail waiting to happen.
And why would you want a screen on the controller to play games on? If I buy a console I do so to play games at home on my TV.
It was a pretty awesome little thing for Dreamcast, truth be told. You would download data from a game, and the little memory card thingy who's name escapes me at the moment let you play minigames, which you could then import back into the game. Like raising Chaos in Sonic Adventure. And in ... what was that game ... Skies of Arcadia! Yeah, it would be used as a detector to find hidden items. Of course, at the time it was basically an elaborate Tamagotchi or whatever, but still.
Dreamcast was really an awesome system.
Edit: Playstation did it, too, with Pocketstation. I forgot about that one for a moment. I just remember it was in FF8 to raise your chocobo. I think it was 8.LockeColeMA wrote:

For me it was the slow and frustrating battle system that did it in. Honestly couldn't play more than an hour before getting so irritated that I had to quit.
That is the biggest hurdle to the game. Another problem is you can only do one sequence of attacks, so you can't pick and choose which ones you want to do. Didn't like that or much. But, like I said, it was a pretty unique engine, the story wasn't awful, the graphics and music was nice. It was, by no means, a spectacular game, but worth the patience to get into.
Legend of Legaia had similar battles, but done much better. And of course, you have the pinnacle of that, Xenogears. I don't know, I like a blend of regular turn based combat with action oriented inputs. Edited, Apr 16th 2011 12:31pm by lolgaxe
