Was a good game for about 8 months or so. I wasn't particularly fond of the end game, but I definitely have some great memories from that game. I'd recommend picking it up and leveling a guy for a bit. Well worth it.
That's about exactly my experience with Lotro. I played for around 6 months, got two characters to 65. The leveling, lore, and quests are all great. I did not really like grouping end game. Targeting is really sloppy and many of the dungeon encounters just felt like chaos.
Plus fellowship maneuvers are just really annoying to me when some micro manager wants to do green yellow green red yellow green. They just break the hell out of the flow of whatever you were actually doing on your character before the burgler or tank randomly decide to start an FM on the first mob they pull and you are not even near it yet.
I'm waiting for them to raise the level cap and introduce a big new area like Rohan or Isengaurd because I really can't see doing Moria or Mirkwood again.
If you have never played the game though and have ever read Tolkien it's a nice treat to interact with the story line as it unfolds.
