That actually sounds pretty good. I was always wondering if that was just a joke on their part or if it would actually amount to something.

If this is legit, I'm definitely looking forward to the next DLC!

Yeah, that was a serious "Lolwut?" moment. I definitely wouldn't put it past the Borderlands designers to run with it, though... :D

Nice of them to finally explain wtf was going on in that end CS lol.

As far as the leak goes, I don't think it's below them to have done it on purpose for a little viral.

I was so unimpressed with the end of Borderlands. :\

One of the easiest boss fights ever, story line doesn't really get tied up, and there's no twist or juicy thing at the end. Just drops some possibly good guns.

I love Borderlands, the gameplay and style is awesome, if it had a killer storyline it would've been a great game. Borderlands MMO might be awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised. I can't really see any other reason to package these files in with a game patch rather than the DLC itself, unless their servers honestly can't handle releasing the entire DLC at once, which seems unlikely.

what was left to tie up?

no twist
the last boss doesn't count as a "twist"? or the satellite/angel thing?

Borderlands didn't have an amazing end by any means, but I think it was mostly just because there wasn't a lot of choreographing in the last couple levels to build up tensions and make it feel momentous. Kind of like RPGs with "100 floor tower of mediocrity" leading up to the final boss, you just loose momentum halfway through. The basic foundation was fine though I think, and the DLCs are much better about integrating the plot and providing a clear buildup->climax->resolution.

The whole Guardian Angel thing, to start with. It manages to explain the "who" - barely - but nothing at all about the "why". Maybe that's explained in DLC, I don't know. I'm not going to go on about the rest of the story - I think I've made my viewpoint clear enough in previous threads.

Because you don't want your competitor in control of the destroyer of worlds or the destroyer of worlds killing all your customers? I thought the motivation was pretty obvious.

Considering how easy the boss fight went, it's not as though they couldn't have just blasted the damn thing from orbit and moved on. Or, since Pandora is a desolate hellhole with almost no customers to speak of anyway, just abandon the entire planet and set up shop elsewhere. Besides which, how do they even know what's in the Vault? They should've thought it was nothing but treasure just like everyone else, and tried to recover it themselves.

On a side note, the first time I beat the game I had inadvertently turned off cinematics through a startup command, and that ending makes absolutely no sense at all without it. I was confused for a good three days til I happened to watch the cinematic on Youtube.
