DotA, HoN, LoL, etc.Follow
Does anyone play games like this? I'm trying to get into the genre by starting with LoL, and so far I'm really enjoying it. Granted, I'm pretty sure LoL is dumbed down a lot compared to DotA, but still it's definitely a good place to start. And it's free.
A fair number of people on the zam forums play these games, myself included.
Having played DotA, HoN, LoL, and seen a fair amount of Demigod gameplay, I wouldn't say LoL is a dumbed down game. I think it was made more accessible and that many of the most frustrating facets of gameplay were removed. Perhaps it is best to say that LoL has less subtlety.

I'd say LoL is a good start. If you want to get more serious about it, however, you should think about moving to HoN, which I find to be a more polished game. It's really a matter of preference though. Luckily for you, I think HoN is offering free play this week; you should go to their website and see what you can find (www.heroesofnewerth.com).
