Couple of questions about the Borderlands DLC (which you might have guessed already, given the title). I've been looking around on various other sites, but I can't seem to find any answers. Maybe someone around here can help me out?

Do I have to get them in order, or can I pick and choose? For example, do I need to have The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned before getting The Secret Armory of General Knoxx? Do I need to purchase Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot before getting the Armory? From what I've read, Mad Moxxi doesn't add much of interest to me, and I'd rather not buy it if I don't have to.

Yeah, I know not everyone likes Borderlands, and I freely admit the plot's thin at best. I really like the gameplay, the characters are amusing, and the art style is unique. I just like it, that's all. :P

Thanks in advance! :)

DLC's are always pick and choose, I have yet to see a DLC set that required you to play them in order.

Edit: Scratch that, just remembered the Half Life 2 episodes.

You don't need any of the DLC to get/play any of the other DLC.

I can understand not wanting to pick up Moxxi if you didn't like the arenas, but Zombie Island and Knoxx are well worth it. Knoxx in particular is almost as big as the original game, making it the best 10$ I've ever spent on a game! :3

also: They need to hurry up and release DLC4! The CEO stated there would be more DLC after Knoxx and they started posting on their twitter account again a couple weeks ago. I can't wait!

I didn't hate the arenas, but they weren't my favorite fights (except as Brick; Berserk FTW!). Glad to know I don't have to buy Moxxi. I fully intend to pick up Zombie Island and Knoxx, I just wasn't sure if I HAD to get them in any specific order.

Another question: does it help to play them in any particular order, and should I complete Playthrough 2 before diving into the DLC?

Zombie island is fine whenever, but you probably want to have completed w/e playthrough (of be of the same level as if you had) before you start Knoxx. My most recent playthrough I skipped playthrough 2 by taking extra time with Zombie Island so that I was the right level and went straight to Knoxx, but it was a little tougher than usual.

So Knoxx is kind of "end-game content" then?

Just mentioning it because I didn't see it mentioned yet...

All three DLCs are half price on XBox Live's Deal of the Week this week. The Deal started Monday and I 'think' it ends Sunday, but don't hold me to it.

Yeah, vanilla playthrough 2 goes from levels ~37 to ~50, and Knoxx picks up 50-61.

Pretty good deal. Too bad I play on PC... I've been keeping my eye on Direct2Drive (since that's where I bought Borderlands in the first place). Honestly, though, $10 isn't an unreasonable price, IMO.

Kewl. I'll pick up Zombie Island first, then. Thanks so much! :D

...and there goes ten bucks. (I skipped on the Underdome, I don't care for the arena fights).

Steam has Borderlands on sale for $10 til Thursday, and the 3 DLC for $3.33 each ($10 for all 3). My question is this - I have not actually finished the original game. Would the DLC enter itself in prematurely into the story, or does it really matter?

The DLC is probably like Fallout's in which you can do it at any time you choose and it doesn't interfere with the game's main story.

Plot wise Moxxi is completely separate from main storyline, Zombie Island is completely separate minus one small spoiler in the opening CS, and Knoxx has couple spoilers/references but would be difficult w/o finishing either the main story or Zombie Island.

I'd be all over this deal, except I bought my copy through Direct2Drive, and I don't believe DLC from Steam would play well with another company's DRM... :(

You have to specifically go to the DLC's areas via the Fast Travel network. It won't interfere with the main storyline unless you want it to.

I haven't played Knoxx yet, but I'd recommend finishing the original game before delving into Zombie Island. The storyline there picks up after the main plot finishes.

Exactly what I wanted to hear. I went ahead and bought all 3, but need to now actually start playing the game again :P.
