Dear Runes of Magic Community,

We will be temporarily removing from the Auction House the ability to trade gold for Diamonds, and vice versa.

Please note: This will not affect items already being auctioned.

We are taking this action in light of the dramatic increase in the number of gold sellers recently. This is a necessary step to protect you, our true community of players.

As soon as we’re certain that the trading of Diamonds and gold between players can safely resume, we’ll lift the temporary block.

In the meantime, please be aware that those who attempt to trade contrary to our regulations may have their accounts temporarily banned. The illegal sale of gold through third parties may lead to users being permanently banned from their accounts and from the game as a whole.

To ensure further protection for our players in against the goldsellers we will have to deactivate the possibility to send gold via in-game mail, as well as the function to send items by C.O.D services.

I have to say that I have always felt that you should not be able to trade gold for diamonds in the first place, as it muddies the separation between real-world cash (diamonds) and in-game currency (gold). What do you think?

What you just said doesnt make much sense.. Diamonds are ingame items that are used to purchase other ingame items.making all items in any mmo worth something. without the auction house people will still sell the diamonds thru the gifting process for gold which is what they want instead of the diamonds which they purchased with real life money.. see it make no sense..

The real problem comes when the RMT folks use this to recharge their Gold bankers after Frogster bans a bunch of accounts (which happened last week). What did we see immediately after? /World was filled with folks selling IS items for Gold. This is how the spammers recharge their gold supply. If Frogster had never allowed the intermingling of the 2 currencies (gold and diamonds) this would never have been an issue.

Fer instance... the Flying Rune Disk was 499d (about $20 normally) but they also made it half-price diamonds week making it about $9.45 to buy the mount which they then sold for 10mil Gold (about $1/mil). Now how much per mil are they then reselling that gold for?
