Just got a WiiFollow

#1 Apr 07 2010 at 3:31 PM Rating: Good
Gamestop is having a sale until the 9th, where you can buy a Wii and get Resort with the Wii Motion controller attachment for free. So my bf and I bought one last night.

Are there any must have games for the Wii besides Super Smash Bros. that I should know about? I mostly like RPG's and Action/Adventure games. Puzzle games are cool too if they're decent. My bf likes shooters but not RPG's except for Oblivion and Fable types. The new Mario game that just came out that is a possible 4 player looks pretty good.

yeah get the new mario its fun.

You should probably get the zelda game, its supposedly cool to fans of zelda, i didnt care for it. Good shooterish game that I want to try is Red Steel 2. though its sword/shooter hybrid, looks awesome.

Sports Resort is the most played at our house.

Zelda and Ookami are good game to get for the Wii if you want action adventure. Mario Galaxy is a solid adventure platformer game.

I find this curious, because you're the first person I've heard of remotely interested in the genre who didn't like it. do you not care much for the Zelda style games in general?

I played the original Red Steel when it was in arcades, good to rent but not worth buying. You should also get the Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Dunno. I got bored with it quickly. The last zelda game i played prior to that was Link to the Past which i thought was fun.

Oh yeah, Ookami is definitely one I want to try. One of my dorm buddies had it for the PS2 and she showed it to me last year; it looked really neat.

Thanks for the heads up on Red Steel. We'll probably rent it first to see if we like it instead of buying it out right.

If you've never played Pikmin and Pikmin 2, pick those up along with a gamecube controller. (The pikmin games are really hard to find these days, but they are worth it.)

Oh, and yes, I know that these are Gamecube games. But like I said, they are so worth it. Smiley: grin

Definitely Okami and Zelda. SMG is also good. The little I've played of The New Super Mario Bros. Wii was really fun, so you'll probably enjoy that (prepare to jump down each others throats at times though). I also second Metroid Trilogy. Those will all keep you busy for a while.

Also, not really in the same vein but Wii Fit is very good (and fun) for what it is.

I also didn't care for it, but it was more because the puzzles seemed frustrating and tedious than the game itself being bad. The graphics were amazing and I was enjoying the story... until I got stuck on the Water Temple. I always hate water temples, and this one I just could NOT do.

Last Zelda game I had played was Majora's Mask, which I loved. Never tried Windwaker or any of the DS games.

Either you were playing on a tiny TV or need an eye exam.

I voted OoT's Water Temple as the most annoying dungeon ever in a poll once.

Tiny TV. And eye exam.

The graphics were really good; remember, the last game I had played was Majora's Mask.

Ah, right. I meant to write that, my bad!

Anyway, Zelda is the only game I got on the Wii. And I never play it. So... I'll be scrolling this thread for suggestions too!

the new smb is a must have. Fun single player, hilarious/rage inducing multiplayer.

And if you get all the star coins you can play world 9, which is significantly more hardcore.

Perhaps he should have said the art? Zelda on the Wii may not be a very graphically powerful game, but it does look good--better than many graphically superior games.

Cant argue with your taste in art.

I suppose? I'm of the opinion that many games are marketed far too often on their polygon count, yet they look like shiz. Extremely high definition shiz sure, but shiz the same.

No i agree. I didnt think zelda was great graphically or artistically is all. But i understand what you mean. Hell, i think Dofus is a great looking game and its far from any graphical feat.

Mario Galaxy was a pretty fun game. Also on the Wii Store that Final Fantasy Life as King was somewhat interesting. It is more of a sim then an rpg though. Zelda was a fun game if you haven't played it.

Just watch out for alot of the 3rd party garbage that gets ported to it. A Lot of PS2 games that make terrible use of the Wiimote seem to get thrown on there.

Yeah the Monster Hunter game does look pretty fun. I saw an ad for it when we were in Game Stop trying to decide whether to get the Wii or not.

I just got an email from Netflix saying that you can get the service on Wii now. You just have to request a special disk from them first, which I believe has the video player used by Netflix on it.
