Game Crashing on Free TrialFollow

Is anyone else getting this? I'm hoping like hell it's not my video card, and no other program is doing it, but sometimes I'll just be walking along and the monitor shuts off like it's not getting a signal and I just have to restart. It did it once before where the visual signal kept being sent and it almost looked like my machine was being lagged down by the game, getting like 1 frame every 5-6 seconds. Once I eventually closed the game with task manager, everything worked fine and went back to normal operation. Since there's obviously not a magic patch that will fix this, I hope someone else has run into this and knows how to prevent it. Using a Geforce 8800 GTS 640mb, and yes, the drivers are up to date, and that usually doesn't cause many problems anyway, or at least out of date drivers haven't been the source of my troubles ever in the history of me owning a computer...
