Fans are looking forward to an oft rumored remake of FFVII, but I don't believe this will happen for the time being. However, it's possible that he will appear in other titles as a guest character.

So please, for the love of god, stop spreading rumors that they're working on a remake. They're not.

SE likes money, don't they? If so, they should totally do it.

Yeah, but see, the thing is, something like that would actually make some kind of business sense, and they fire people for doing that sort of thing.

Yeah, but see, the thing is, something like that would actually make some kind of business sense, and they fire people for doing that sort of thing.

You use this word, but you have no idea what it means.

It is that thing NBC uses?

We all know what FF remakes look like.. tactics! >:O

I'd say spare me the remakes. Just keep producing games that have good gameplay and awesome storylines.

Both words.

A remake of FFVII would make oodles of money and would cost a fraction of what it costs to make a modern FF game.

So don't do what you did? I for a brief second thought they might actually be making a FF7 remake.

Got it for Christmas. I've never played a more linear and boring game in my life. The gameplay is essentially a button mashing puzzle game, with little to no strategy involved. At times I was left wondering if I was playing a fighting game or an RPG after a random battle ... which aren't all that random, considering you can see them coming and really can't avoid them. The whole game just repeats the movie-battle sequence over and over (In fact the progression is closer to movie-run-battle-run-movie-boss-movie-run-battle ...). Once you get to chapter ten or eleven the game goes from crap to mediocre, but it might be my age speaking when I say I just can't find enjoyment in spending twenty plus hours of torture just to hate something a little less than when I started it. You are correct in one regard, though. It lives up to Square Enix's exceptionally high standards for graphics and music. It looks pretty damn good.

I was just playing FFVII the other day, and I got to thinking about a possible remake. Then I got to realize just how difficult it would be to REMAKE a game like that.

I mean, the character models, battle system, things like that would be easy enough. But how do you remake the world itself? It's not just any old 3-Dimensional mess of objects and buildings. It's hard to explain exactly. It's almost as if the world itself is painted onto a giant digital canvas, one that works PERFECTLY with PS1's primitive graphics.

11 had an amazing storyline; and as far as I'm concerned the gameplay was good. :3 10 Was grand in both aspects imo, 9, 8, 7, and tactics all equally as well. 10-2 had an amazing battle system, but the story was bleh. 12 was bleh on both accounts.

For 13, what do you mean by linear? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the term, or the depth of the linearity, but most (awesome) rpg games that I can think of are pretty damn linear.

I mean this:

That's not one dungeon. That is about the first third of the game. I can't think of any awesome rpgs where a fairly large portion of the game involved walking down a hallway.

I can think of multiple good rpgs where you never get to walk anywhere, though there mainly SRPGs theres still no walking.

So, that type of linear? Thought you were talking about storyline linearity; which is what most JRPS are like (And I usually end up preferring it that way.)

I'll just have to experience the game myself, looking back at the maps for ffx, it doesn't look that much different and I can't remember myself thinking it was too straightforward.
