WoW xfer - starting Trial AccountFollow

Finally closing my WoW account after 2.5 yrs. Just don't have fun raiding that much and am LF something new. I like the PVE aspect described in LOTRO, so I'd thought I'd give it a go.

I guess I would say I'm looking for a big kinship(guild). I'm not that type of person to always ask for help, but I do appreciate having some instant contacts to bounce ideas off of.

2nd - I played a mage in WoW. I really liked the caster role, but kind of want to try the melee dps/tanking role here. Do they have some sort of duel spec trees(I really know nothing about LOTRO)? or are tanks class specified? Any suggestions.

Anything else you would give advice to a noob?

Thanks in Advance.

Mike

Come join us on Meneldor, we'll be happy to have you in the kinship.

As for the class decision...Most classes in Lotro have multiple roles. A DPS/Tank/Off Tank would be a champion, guardian, or warden. Which class depends on what you want to do more: DPS/Tank/Off Tank. I think a champion will fill your needs, but I suggest trying different classes to get an idea of what you like.

There are no "dual spec trees" per se in LoTRO (most characters are specalized for one role) but I gotta agree with Mora here, if you're looking for a hybrid between tanking and high melee DPS, champion is the way to go. And as a bonus, champs are considered by many to be the flat out kings of multi-target damage with a wide selection of special moves dedicated to AoE & EAoE.

There are two classes who are specifically considered tanks or off tanks (guardian & warden) but the system is loose enough (read that as geared towards the casual player) that in many cases a well geared DPS class can hold his own as a tank.
