The new console / addon / whatever from Microsoft that was announced last year is now apparently planned on being released in November of this year. For those that don't know, it's a gaming system (for lack of a better term, I believe it is planned as a 360 addon, not a new console) that has no controllers, and relies solely on body movement recognized by an infrared camera. Here is the news story explaining it a little more.

I found the article on how they made the thing far more interesting than the thing itself. If I wanted to jump around and act like fool, I'd go outside and do something constructive or possibly destructive. When I game, I want to lay back and have fun. Which is why I play mostly console games and stay away from PC games, you can't really lay back and relax when you have to ***** around with a mouse and keyboard. Anyway, I won't be buying one of these devices.

They fail at basic marketing. How could they design a system whose primary appeal is to casual gamers and then give it a persnickety name.

They seem to be taking marketing advice from Sega. Worked for Sega CD and the 32x, right?

Am I the only one who doesn't give a **** about motion sensing controls? At the end of a long day, I want to sit on the couch and veg out, not get up and start moving. My Wii is gathering dust, only the PS3 and 360 get played any more.

No you're not, that's why most people's Wii's are gathering dust.

That and innovative gameplay will only take you so far if you don't keep pushing it further. Once one gimmick gets boring, you have to either have a new one or go back to the old standby.

"I'll get back on Wii Fit tomorrow".

It's like people think just by buying Wii Fit, they'll lose 20lbs... once they actually use it, it gets used 3 times then put in the loft next to the chest expander and sit up ball.
