So I come from a FFXI background with a foray into WoW and I have a few questions.

1. When will I start grouping for things?

2. What kind of things do I group for? I mean currently I've just being doing the run around killing stuff and doing quests.

3. When will I actually see any PC's? xD I'd like a Kinship just to hang with but I've seen like 2 pc's and what level should I expect to go to the hub city?

Thanks for your time =D

No idea exactly where you are but I'll jump in here and try to help...

After you complete the solo intro instance (where you are alone by design) you are transported to an initial public location. If you picked a human character you are unlikely to see many folks (if any) here because this area (Archet & Combe) is ONLY used in the early low level quests (almost all of which can be done solo). If you made an elf or dwarf you still won't see many folks till you make your way towards Gondamon and re-enter Thorin's Gate. Only The Shire has much of an ongoing player population and even that can get sparse depending on server and time of day.

The first place you will begin to get a real sense of other players is when you reach Bree. You should be ready for this by the time you hit your teens and maybe as early as lvl 10 or 11.

Also be aware that grouping in LOTRO is a bit different than it is in other games (like EQ2 or WOW). In LOTRO, folks often group up ONLY to complete a single quest and then disband after completion.

If you're looking for regular or frequent fellowships (groups), I'd say your best bet is to find a large sized kinship (guild) to join so that there will always be folks ingame when you want to play.

In any case, good luck and welcome to Middle Earth!

Oh yeah, I'm an elf xD

I hit level 10 today, but got kicked off during maint.

By sounds of things i'm going to be needing to get a large kinship. I play mmo's for grouping over everything.

If you want to poke your nose in and see the town of Bree but you don;t want to risk running all the way there, you can grab a rental horse at the stable in Celondim and go directly to Bree. From there you can head out the West gate and see if the mobs just outside the gate are still red to you. If they are yellow or better you could begin to hunt/gain XP there and officially move to the big city!

If the mobs around Greenway Crossing (just beyond the gates) are still red to you, you could head to the other end of town and try hunting/questing in Combe and Archet. They are the low level villages for human characters but you can complete the quests too.

I was focused on answering the OP's question instead of expanding our ranks... consider me properly chastised...

I am fairly new to the game (level 40 now), but I might have some advice for you.

1) Big kinship for sure - I am in a fairly large one and it helps to have the chatter. Plenty of helpful folks and people to be helped as well.

2) /joinchannel GLFF - On my server, Nimrodel, this is the "global looking for fellowship" channel. It usually has ~200 members and is nice to listen in. Most of the fellowshipping is for max levels but I often see people forming fellowships for Great Barrows (GB).

3) above mentioned Great Barrows instance - As far as I know, this is the first instance low levels group up for often. At level 20ish you should be able to start going there. If your main interest in the game is grouping, you could even form groups for this and run it often. Make sure to buy some Travelling Rations from a provisioner so you can be summoned there and summon other people.

Good luck and happy hunting!

OBD, I didn't mean to chastise you! I do agree that a kinship will answer most of the OPs concerns.
