Steam SaleFollow

#52 Dec 30 2009 at 7:05 PM Rating: Good
It's originally 50 on steam, on sale for 37 and change. If it drops below 20 I'll probably pick it up, unless they put any other must have titles in the one day sales.

LIES!

It's in part of some other 33% off sale. They need to put it in the ZOMG ONE DAY ONLY sale area for 10$ or less.

It won't get that low. Most I see it going to is $29.99 as that's what Best Buy and Amazon had it at last week.

What is this GoTY? Ohh... Haha. It's funny how typing something makes it all clearer, while repeating it in your head does no. "G-o-T-Y..." Game of the year?

Why did I even still make this post?

Why not?

edit: I've also never really understood what GotY editions offer... the same game for a cheaper price, or is there more content?

Some Game of the Year editions include Downloadable Content with the game. (At least with console games).

All of Bethesda's GOTY versions come with all the expansions that were released for that game. For example, Fallout 3 GOTY comes with Point Lookout, Op: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, and Mothership Zeta. When the expansions were released they cost $10 a piece, in addition to buying the main game for $40-$50 if you did not have it already which would total to around $100.

With the GOTY version you get it all for $50-$60; as a bonus you get the smug sense of satisfaction that you patiently waited for it to be released as a set, instead of blowing all that cash on a quick fix every couple of months.

I always assumed the game of the year edition essentially meant "hey let's try to corner the remaining market share that hasn't played our awesome game yet by selling at a more attractive and reasonable price for the people who were too weary of paying full price when the game came out".

That's actually why I sold my copy of the original game. I bought it used, played it for month, pealed off all of the stickers, then sold it for all but ten dollars of what I paid. If I can get a decent deal on the GoTY version, I'll end up saving at least fifty.

Nothing good today unless you want Half Life 1 or Medival 2: Total War.

And if you haven't played HL yet...

I've actually had a free extra copy of HL2 for several years now if anyone hasn't yet played that either.

I noticed that I have a free copy of HL2 as well. I'm not entirely sure if it's a trial, or a full gift copy, but if someone wants it, I like attention.

If you get the Orange Box, use this page to play HL2 with the Portal Gun. It kicks so much *** in game.

Edit: I should mention that I haven't figured out how to enable music, audible speech, and mouth movement for NPC speech.

Bsphil: Search for and join the "Allakhazam" group (let me know if you need an invitation, my Steam ID is Vataroh). NixNot is part of that group and you can add him from there. Pretty sure it's just NixNot though.

Shaowstrike: That is freaking awesome. Thanks.

Street Fighter 4 just dropped to $10, and Crysis Maximum (Main Game + Semi Expansion) is $14.

Then you know what must be done. Get HL:S for the 2.49 today and get Orange Box. Even at full price it's a great deal with 5 games for the price of one. Much fun will be had.

Heck I'd even say get Opposing Force which was a side story for the first Half Life, but it's not one I'd say is required.

Yeah, looks like it's about time for me to cave in and finally play it. Also picked up KOTOR for $5.

13 gigs, 2 games, already missing my mere 10 mbit connection...
