Steam SaleFollow

Going on through the first of the year, I may have to beg borrow and steal to get in on some of these deals. I've missed out on a lot of recent PC games because my computer has been falling behind. Sounds like I'm getting some upgrades for xmas, so I can't wait to see what newer games I can play.

I just picked up Braid for 2.49$, because yes, I'm one of three people that hasn't played it yet.

I also grabbed Aquaria, which I think I heard about because the creator of Spelunky had a hand in it or something. Aquaria is looking to be a great game. It's like Super Metroid and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker had a kid, and named Eco: The Dolphin as the godfather. The visuals and audio are really striking, my only complaint so far is it's difficult to see what is dangerous and what isn't. Haven't had a chance to get very far.

So far I picked up about $47 worth of games last night. A lot of it is stuff I skipped out on in the past and just couldn't say no to. I ended up with:

The Witcher
GTAIV (I had this on 360, but traded it in shortly after getting bored with it. For $7.49 though, can't ignore it)
Indigo Prophecy (Play Quantum Dream's last game before Heavy Rain)
Deus Ex
Braid
Beyond Good and Evil (I feel bad missing out on this)
Stalker
Ghostbusters

I'm hoping they knock the Fallout 3 GOTY version down to $30 before the end of the week so I can jump on it before the Best Buy and Amazon sales are done. I'd rather have it fully on Steam, but I'm not sure if an extra $7.49 is worth it.

Gah, there are too many steam sales. And that's a pretty fantastic deal on Braid.

I never got around to playing GTA4 or Assassin's Creed, and since they're both under $10 now I might as well give it a shot. Even if they aren't that great, <$10 doesn't feel like that much of a loss...

I wish I could agree on that about GTAIV. I really didn't feel the city and the constant "We should have a man date, cousin." crap really made it less fun. Surprisingly, I've been playing Infamous, which I hear a lot of people say is really repetitive and linear for a sandbox game, but it's done about everything I wish GTAIV would have done.

I wouldn't mind another Vice City though. That's still my favorite.

I just couldn't get into GTAIV. They story wasn't very interesting, the other characters constantly calling me was just annoying, the missions were meh, and the controls were atrocious. Not to mention the city just didn't look very good. All the textures were extremely simplistic and everything was covered in an annoying haze. I had fairly high hopes for IV and was incredibly disappointed.

Like most GTA games, the sandbox style gameplay is really what sells it for me.

Unfortunately, GTA is the only game I got that isn't downloading right now. Says the servers are too busy atm. >_> Which sucks because I'm moving out tonight for xmas break, so I'll get to download all 13 Gb on a sh*tty 768 Kbit connection as opposed to 10 Mbit.

And now Assassin's Creed stopped at 75%.

My last two days of community history is packed with people getting new games though, lol. Two other people just picked up GTA4 too, I don't feel like such a loser now.

(btw)

I'm almost through the majority of the levels, so you can blow through all the levels in a hurry, but going back to put together the pictures, and figure out the whole story is going to force me to resort to video walkthroughs, the puzzles are fiendish.

I really enjoyed Braid. Yes, the puzzles get remarkably difficult once you're going for 100% completion rather than just getting to the end of the game.

Finally finished Assassin's Creed, GTA4 still refuses to download. I can't even get it started now. Keep getting:

Apparently the prices aren't consistent because GTA4 is no longer for sale, it's back to $30.

Of course. The sale on the front page explicitly says it only lasts 24 hours.

For what it's worth, RE5 is $25 today.

Oh, I skipped the lower half of the page, and went straight to the search bar to look for a deal on the Orange Box.

Awesome. I see Torchlight is one of the deals today at $4.99. For anyone that doesn't know, the people who made it are some of the same people who worked on Diablo 1 and 2 in the past. Only downfall is the game lacks multiplayer.

Yea, they had Torchlight on sale a week or so ago and I picked it up then. Have yet to play it, but a friend recommended it to me as one who enjoys Diablo 1&2

I grabbed Torchlight on sale too, good game, nice filler game when there's not a lot out I want to play, unlike now. Leo just bought me the Eidos collection pack for 50$ and I think I might pick up Zombie Driver for two-fitty, and Dead space for ten-fitty, in today's sale.

Steam is remarkably more stable on my new machine.

I think I quit playing Braid after about the fourth puzzle.
Something about going backwards and having a purple shadow of myself and something was green.
I don't remember. I remember my brain screaming at me and then I had a seizure.

Hmm, it only costs twenty to begin with. Hardly something to get excited over.
