So, following the link that was conveniently on the front page of the Zam news skin thingy, I found a free to play beta thing for a game called Allods Online. I watched the trailer, and wasn't really sure how it'd be.

Investigating further, I discovered that this game has a race known as the Gibberlings, that come in sets of three. They're little furball guys that you can seperately customize and name, and each of them has different animations while in combat.

The game itself is quite nice, although very reminiscent of WoW.
I'm going to keep going with it for a few more weeks to see how it plays out.

To be fair, that thread really was in the wrong forum.

'cuz hardly anyone from the WoW/FFXI/Other game parts of zam don't come here :p

I though about posting it here... :p

I have a toon on both sides. Human Druid and "Mage" Undeadbot.
Unless the Grind becomes super crazy (all f2p seem to do this, I just don't like it when the uber-grind starts at like lvl 10 -.-), and Cash Shop makes it unfair to people who do want to stay "free" to play...the game could be an awesome f2p game.

Yeah, I know. That's why I didn't give it crap for being OOT on the WoW boards, though I'm wondering if it might be worth it to train people to post threads like that here and then just post a quick thread on their game board with a link to the =22 thread and have an admin lock the link post so it can't be spammed.

Not to mention that the thread title didn't actually mention the game...

Played it for a few hours. Aside from the lack of mini map (which I played EQ1 which never had one, and EQ2 just so got one this year), it's not too bad. First thing I did was turn off click to move (I loathe that option).

First impressions: Graphics aren't as bad as most F2P games...I think the age market they are going for is the ex-Hello Kitty generation. Yes, the tutorial isle is horrible to get quests done, but with only 2 servers I expected that. They may not add many more servers when its OB but lets hope they do just so the starting island isnt so congested.

I think stats could be a little clearer. Quests that give me an option of 2 or more items, but early on you barely know what your stats do for you, so it's basically pick something and hope it's an upgrade.

The map system is by far the best part. I'm used to reading every word of the quest dialog for clues as to where to go...and here all I have to do is open my map and look for the marker saying "this area".

I do NOT like the quest helper at this point. You cant remove quests from it...so unless you like having 10 quests showing up on your screen at once it will annoy you.

There are a few glitches I've run into, but it is CB so I understand that (though, one was in the private starting tutorial and I think it had more to do with server or graphic lag (the final npc vanished before I could turn my quest in so I was in fact locked in that room, and had to relog and start the whole thing over)). Map icons seem to be 90% stable...they have a habit of disappearing at times.

So yeah, when its in OB I may just have to find out where everyone is playing. I will no doubt still be a summoner, and you can forget about me going heal spec.
