Is pissing me off. Smiley: mad

Okay, not really, but wow. I don't know if they've extremely ramped up the Director, or if I'm just extraordinarily unlucky, but last night I fought eight Witches in a row, essentially back to back. This was on a single stage of the campaign, too. At one point there were three Witches at once trying to kill me. It was a hell of a lot of fun, but damn.

The addition of melee weapons is pretty nice, and they've done a lot with adding extra twists but still keeping the same sort of free-flowing, addictive gameplay. I'm looking forward to installing it on my PC tonight and getting to play it with a mouse at last. Anyone else picked this up yet?

I downloaded the demo on steam and played through it. I distinctly remember thinking to myself "So, this is it?" on numerous occasions.

Don't get me wrong, I love mowing down hoards of zombies, and I love the idea of getting together with a few friends to mow down hoards of zombies, but I just don't get why these games are so popular. Are there like a bazillion different maps, or will there be user made content? Is there a good plotline, or campaign mode? Or is it really just replaying maps with a group, and pitting yourself against the director?

Even listening to the AI controlled people whenever a "Special Zombie" showed up wasn't very inspired. They all speak in a flat disinterested tone, as if they've grown bored with slaying. Does having another human control the special zombies make them that much more of a threat?

I guess I just don't love multiplayer as much as the average gamer, but after playing the demo, I don't feel bad that I missed out on the first game, and probably won't be spending fifty bones to play the second.

Not terribly much, no. I won't pretend it's a very challenging game, and if it didn't have co-op mode I probably wouldn't have played more than once or twice. The real fun is mostly just playing with your friends, whether co-op or versus, and having goofy **** happen, like never getting to leave a safe room because you all won't quit shooting each other. You're right that it basically is nothing more than replaying maps (though supposedly the Director in this one can shuffle maps around? Not sure on that). Essentially 100% of this game's popularity stems from multiplayer with your friends, so if you aren't much into multiplayer, this isn't going to thrill you at all.

I think it can. I swear, I went through this one campaign, and the next time I tried to take the same route there was a freaking soda machine blocking the way! It was horrid!

I agree. I just don't feel that there's enough content to justify a sequel... it seems more like an expansion pack, definitely not worth $50.

Dont know how many expansions youve played that have more content than the base game, L4D2>>>>L4D for pretty much everything.

Versus id imagine is the main draw, its incredibly fun, and i dont know how anyone could play either of these games without playing it, it would be like buying MW2 and only playing the single player.

As for comparing it to an expansion, I feel similarly. It is, for all intensive purposes Left 4 Dead with new maps, weapons, and enemies. That's usually what an expansion is for FPSs.
They've also polished the graphics and physics of the game. It's a really nice expansion, but it's an expansion.

I'd rather play the NES version of the original game.

I played the free demo for Xbox360 and it looked god awful.

Looked like playstation level graphics almost.

I hope the final product was way way more polished and looked more like the original?

So...if l4d2 is just an expansion, than what would qualify as a sequel?

For all of those that feel it's an expansion and not worth full price, look out for the sales on Black Friday. Gamestop is selling the PC version for $29.99 and since it's a Valve game you can tie it in with your Steam account fully as if you bought it from Steam yourself. Best Buy also is selling the 360 version for $34.99. If you aren't willing to fight BF crowds, the best option would be to get the 360 version from Target for $45 for the whole next week.

I'll probably try and match the sale for Gamestop's version at Best Buy since I would much rather get my reward zone points.

That's just how Hard Rain is. There are a ton of witches on that run though the mill.

Very enjoyable game so far though.

Isn't there actually even an achievement for not disturbing any witches in that level?

That there is, though I haven't played it since that first time. For some reason this game was honestly harder on PC than on Xbox for me, even though I'm far and above better with a mouse/keyboard than a controller. Also, oddly enough, when I play multiplayer with a friend of mine, the campaign keeps spontaneously changing difficulty on us, so on a few occasions our Normal game has bumped itself up to Expert and killed us. It's an oddly buggy game.

Theres a patch for PC that is fixing the difficulty issue thing. I just wish I could find a game that isnt, A, laggy as **** and, B, both teams dont ******* suck ***.

On one occasion I kept getting sent to an AU server for a Dark Carnival campaign where we all had 400+ pings, so I hosted it myself and everyone else dropped down to ~100. Other than that I haven't had an issue with lag. Also, half the time I just play with my friends and they're all pretty decent at it at worst, the other half of the time I've been getting some pretty good people in advanced/expert lobbies. It's only when I just join a normal/easy/quick game that I get stuck with idiots.

Right now I just wanna figure out how you can cross the bridge at the end of the Parish in under 3 minutes.

I must be really horrible at this game because I can never find an online game that people actually stay in. I always end up being the last one left on my team. Smiley: frown

It's either that or I get on a team with the idiots who either just run like retards and never look back, no matter what and tragic things happen, or I get stuck with people who can't handle the fact that I don't have a microphone (I do, and I listen to the strategies and follow them, I just don't like to talk back) and they get all pissy and go crazy. L4D/L4D2 is best when played with friends for sure.
