So im joining the game with a few friends one who is gonna play rune keeper and the other is going Lore master..

so were looking for a tank but i dont wanna play a guard. i was wondering in wow,eq almost every mmo ive played seriousily ive pleyed a hybrid type character wow played a pally, shaman and druid eq i played a pally and fury.

so i was wondering is there a class out there that i could help the group tanking but also have some fun dps maybe heal a bit smthn similar to a pally i guess..

i think warden and captain look cool but i also thought a burg would be fun always wanted a rogue but if it wont really benefit our group then ohh well ill stick to my roots we will be leveling as a trio the whole time as well...

i know i ranted a bit but any info would be great.. thanks guys

Captain is sort of similar to paladin/shammy in WoW, I'd check into that. I'm short on time or I'd give you more advice.

One nice thing is in LoTRO you can make non-traditional groups work with a little imagination. Even so, you probably do want either a heavy armor wearer (Guardian, Champion, Captain) or Warden to keep your squishies out of harms way. Burglars are very versitile, but you might not like tanking with one.

Curious why you do not want to be a guardian, since that class would be ideal for those other classes. Guardians can take a lot of damage and have ample skills to gain aggro. They also have a DPS stance they can use.

Champions and Captains are not as durable but Champions are AoE and DPS machines, while Captains are buffers and some healing. Captains can also summon a pet for support. Either would be fine for the main tank role in that threesome for questing. Both can use shields, but normally Captains rock with two-handed weapons and Champs dual-weild.

I have never played a champ, but the thing with captains is they really shine in a group (be it 2, 3 or 6 people) so you might enjoy that aspect.

The guardian is the consummate tank in LOTRO. If I were wanting to tank but didn't want to go with a guardian, I'd go with a champion. As a champion you'll have to hold the aggro by dolling out massive DPS and the people in your Fellowship will need to be careful about not grabbing aggro because you won't have the nifty guardian skills to get it back.
