[MTG] The blue/green deck I just composedFollow

A few weeks ago me and a friend went to a local tournament, right around when the 2010 set came out, and didn't place so well. Out of 30, him 22nd, me 21st. It was closed deck so you paid and built your own from current booster packs, then kept it after that. This time though what my local shop did (and does) is, at the end, pool all the goldens and mythics, then letting the winner get first pick of one, second place takes one, etc. Went through the list three times. I walked away with three goldens, my friend 2 goldens and a mythic.

But anyway, not the point. Point is, using my collection of cards, I have composed a new blue/green deck and was wondering what our Alla players would think of it.

Mana
- 9 Island
- 9 Forest

Artifacts
- 2 Kraken's Eyes
- Whispersilk Cloak
- Wurm's Tooth

Blue
- Unsummon
- Cancel
- Muddle the Mixture
- Plasma Elemental
- Teardrop Kami
- Disperse
- 2 Djinn of Wishes
- 2 Aetherplasm

Green
- Might of Oaks
- Enormous Baloth
- Oakenform
- Elvish Piper
- Quiet Disrepair
- Body of Jukai
- Mossbridge Troll
- Trolls of Tel-Jilad
- 2 Bountiful Harvest

Total Number
42 total, 18 mana included.

The problem I have with building decks is that I have so many cards I want to include that I always plan out way to many. I had to really cut back what I was putting into the deck to make this one.

Without links to the cards themselves, I have no idea if it's good or not.

My big problem has also always been with limiting the cards being used... especially if you're wanting to use 3 or 4 of each card.

Links to the cards or breif descriptions would be nice, and we need to know who much of each card. Right off the bat, I would toss in 2 more lands.

Ya you generally want at least, 20 land in a deck IIRC.

Meh, 18 lands is fine for a 42 card deck.

I remembered some old MTG threads and everyone seemed to just know the cards.

Alright punks, try this. Same order as the original post.

Mossbridge Troll is awesome, as well as the Aetherplasm's along with the more expensive cards, Mossbridge, Jukai, Baloth, etc.

Djinn of Wishes also has potential since it allows, as long as you have the mana for it, extra draws, more cards being played, etc.

I miss all the 1 turn buffs and healing from my other green cards though. But this looks pretty decent so far.

It says before the card name, 2. Like, "- 2 Aetherplasm"

And I've been shuffling/drawing seven, etc, running through some fake turns, this amount of mana works well. Just sucks when I don't get the correct colors.

I feel that you have too many different cards, and not enough replicates. It makes a deck too unpredictable imo. I would cut out a few cards that might not be essential and add copies of the better ones. That is, of course, my general advice without actually looking at any of the cards you are using. I haven't built any decks in about 5 years, so take it for what it's worth.

Yes, I've noticed this. In order to focus on something, I need more than just 2. Up to the limit of 4, then two or three similar cards that work to the same effect.

And I linked them for a reason, I thought you were one of the one's that requested the links Vataro? Smiley: grin

You should probably scale back on the size of your green cards. Yeah, you do have a few sneaky tricks to play giant creatures for little cost, but the chances of you getting a hand full of 5 or 6 cost cards is a bit high, and you could easily get ***********

Yes, but that was mostly for others' benefit because I didn't feel like spending the time to actually read what all of them are.

After going through that page in a half-way pain drug induced haze, I didn't realize that pretty much every goblin card was banned from standard play. That's kind of lame. I loved those little bastards.

Why 42 cards? Arent official decks 60? Also not sure if your trying to make it a legal deck or not, I'll give advise for fun play since im not sure what cards are still legal.

Artifacts

Do 4 each of Kraken's eye and Wurms Tooth. Ditch the shroud artifact. Id replace the shroud artifact that can add a color to all cards, so you gain double life for one card.

After reviewing the deck and looking at your combos, it needs work. Your baseing the entire thing off being able to get ur dijinn or aethplasma out and then dropping ur big green creatures. While that is fine and dandy, you have zero mana acceleration. Unless you can get those combos out your desk is going to stall.

You need to work in massive card draw, and mana acceleration. If you arent cycling down tog et that combo then your just stalling with counters that will run out. Also any decent blue control deck is gonna work you over. Focus on adding card drawing, mana accelerant, and trample or such for ur green creatures. As it stands your big greens can be chump blocked all day.

Also look into small creatures or some kind of token generator that you can get out earlier so you dont get picked at.

If you can get some decent card draw going and focus on your combo of getting ur big guys out or jsut straight playing them, your gonna have a shot but you need to speed the deck up. Any burn, blue control, black control is gonna run you over cause your deck is to slow.
