I'am still stuck on Virtues for my Lore-Master, a lot of older threads on other sites had Valour, Justice, Fidelity, Loyalty and Idealism mentioned as the 5 to base on.
But after checking out other LM's ingame and a bit more research I also see Determination, Confidence, Empathy, Wisdom, Honesty crack a mention as well.
Doesnt leave to many not to chose from lol
So as I'am looking at levelling Virtues as best I can as I level my LM I'd like to get a reasonably good idea and what the end picture will look like and which ones I should be aiming for.
I just dont want to waste time grinding something I dont need.
Then theres Class traits, havent even really looked at them yet as I have only learned one so far.
I'am guessing theres a preference for them to that I hope is a little bit more universal.

I do not believe there is a hard and fast answer for everyone. Obviously the traits are flexible to accomodate your playstyle. I tend to float to make up for whatever gear lacks but with 3 or 4 pretty much set.

I tend to like Empathy for extra armor.

I used to run with Wisdom for Will=Power Pool, but I am nearing the Will cap (buffed) and lots of gear has +Power. I dropped Wisdom from my lineup.

Morale is important for me (mostly solo) so I slot Valour and Justice. Lately I dropped Justice for Loyalty (vit).

I have Idealism for Fate = Tact damage and in-combat power regen (icpr)

The last one depends on what I am doing.

For post-Moria combat from mobs I slot Innocence (-melee %) but If you find yourself at range (like in groups for instance), Compassion is not a bad one (-ranged damage). Determination (agility=evade) might also be a good choice.

If you face Shadow Damage (like in many instances) slot Fidelity.

Usual for me:
Valour Loyalty Innocence Empathy Idealism

Thanks for the reply mate, after a bit more research your setup seems close to the mark so I'll go with that for now.
Next problem is similar, Class and Race trait
At the moment its easy because I'am only slotting what I'am earning without a choice but further down the track when I have a choice I'd like to be heading down the right path.
Again, after a few searches and a look around theres a lot on what both these trait groups consist of but not so much what is preferred.
So a helping hand again would be great.
With my RK I modelled him after my kin's main RK and he was great to get advice from.
Unfortunately we dont seem to have a dedicated LM in our kin, just a few as alts and thier more or less played for fun.
Fun is good dont get me wrong but theres a big diference between a good LM and a great LM like with all other classes.

Yes, yes indeed. :)

While grouping traits really come down to preference, some prefer going heavy into Keeper of Animals line for the bog pet, but I prefer the Ancient Master line for the improved cracked earth and for the increased durations for Fire-lore, and Ancient craft. Some traits are mandatory such as Proof Against all Ills (Always have it if you're in a group!!)

As Mora says, get Proof of all Ills asap. You can spam Tend the Sick to get to the daily cap wherever you want.

I run Keeper of Animal Line so I use 5 from that line. These are more healing traits than straight damage. You rely on pets for your damage more in that case. I like having Master of the Staff slotted though. When you learn to use your pet flanking it helps with stuns and damage.

I tend to slot my class traits after the fact. I go to the Bard and look at them and decide if I use this skill alot, then slot it. Also look to the bonuses for 2 or more of a line. These may be important to you as well.
