With lvl100 Terra, the only Shantotto fight I had trouble with was the second to last one because she actually bound me briefly and it messed up my ability to use moves that require you to push toward or away from your target.
I started to level up Shantotto, but I got bored at level 10... It reminds me of leveling up Generic FF1 Guy in the early levels... none of his HP attacks are worth sh*t and he's always standing there helplessly after he misses over and over again. What level does she learn Bind at... and better yet, does she learn Sleep? I'd really like to actually do HP damage with my HP attacks instead of draining some bravery and not connecting on my third spell.
EDIT: Just watched Tirith's video. She really DOES fight like a BLM.
What I assume to be the final level progression in story mode is ridiculous; Inward Chaos. Not only are the battles somewhat difficult (still working on megalixers to max out equips) but also, some of the fights are just grrrr. For some reason I always have issues with Cloud of Darkness, especially when she's above level 100. Inward Chaos is even more difficult because you have to fight 4-5 +100 bosses per stage with only at most, two healing items. Even with the EXP»HP accessory it is incredibly trying.
As for Chaos level 110...
Seriously SE, wtf. WTF.
Overall though, the game is decent. The battles get repetitive after a while and it's already somewhat tedious leveling another character to 100. Somehow, Onion Knight ended up being my first simply because he was leveled the highest at the end of his story progression. The Duel Colosseum is pretty cool I guess, but can also get frustrating when fighting a 120 character at very high, even 100 maximums can be a hassle.
As for Square Enix characters...sorry, I got confused.
SSB, all I meant was it uses the idea of "Let's take characters from all the games and have them fight!"
The gameplay, judging from the two videos we've seen in this thread, looks fun and all, but reminds me of Soul Caliber. It isn't side to side though, free moving, like Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.
Overall, I wouldn't rate it very highly. Sure playing a demo first would be ideal, but just looking and thinking, I wouldn't go for it personally.
Very nice graphics, effects, spells, etc. I must say. The PSP is amazing.
Neat feature allows you to install parts of the game to the memory stick so it can access them faster. Very cool
You can also go to thepiratebay (I'm sure it's illegal in some way) since you own the game and download an ISO of it. PSP games play so much more smoothly from ISO than from UMD. The load times alone are a huge reason to make the switch. So long as you have a big HD, memory stick, and USB2, it's fairly easy to swap the games in and out (assuming you're on CFW custom firmware).

Well, even if you own the game, it is still illegal to download a copy of it. It's not about whether you own it or not, it's about the illegal distribution of copyrighted materials.
But if you have CFW on your PSP already, you can easily make a backup of your UMD using the various homebrew available.

Thanks but your opinion of a game you haven't played and only have seen a few clips from doesn't interest anyone I think

It's morally acceptable though, and nobody gets spanked for receiving illegally distributed things, it's the actual distribution that gets you spanked! :D
Wait, you can't regularly play as the villains? That totally ruins the game for me. The whole reason I was even interested in the game was the chance to play as Kefka.

You can't in the story mode, except in stuff after Shade Impulse... but TBH, story mode is pretty bland. I'm doing early levels in quick battles and then leveling up in the colosseum.
I do wish they had added a villain's mode in it. I just finished all the heroes, and purchased all the villains. Would have be cool to be able to "flip the cards" and see the rest of the story.
I agree... I started playing the game and did a few stories and ended up deciding to unlock Golbez first to see his side of the store.
Also, while Kefka is my all time favorite FF villain, I was kinda bummed by his performance in Dissidia. I think this was partially because an LS-mate of mine suggested the best idea EVER about two months ago... MARK HAMILL as Kefka. Nothing else could ever be that awesome, so I was set up for disappointment from the start.

So I got it about a week ago and have been playing. Most of my characters are around level 30, but my sister plays Terra whenever I'm not. She's 56.
But this game is so frustrating sometimes. The computer cheats.. I've watched attacks go through an enemy that isn't moving without a dodge or block message. I then get attacked, move out of the way, and actually do see a dodge message, but it hits me anyway. All of the computers, even though they're the same or lower level than me, hit for at least twice as much as I do. They bravery goes from 0 to base in about .2 seconds, while mine takes running to the opposite side of the map and hiding for until they hit me anyway and I go to Break.
And to top it off, story mode keeps picking the two characters that I just can't ever beat without serious luck. C'mon.. fast, long range attacks that I can't ever dodge AND hit for my max Bravery every single time?
Many times I've turned it off and restarted to delete quicksave info.
You cant dodge multi hit attacks if your stuck in the dodge attack event. You will dodge the firat few hits but not all. Also some attacks have a dead zone in them. Zidanea free energy has a dead zone right between him and the animation, so if im to close it will miss. There are several attacks like this.
Also never run away, just keep rushing with a bravery attack. All running away does is prevent the inevitable. Best defense is an offense. Also remember you can sprint through almost all long range attacks for zero damage.
Most of the characters in this game are melee fighters with a small bit of ranged for spacing. Use this to your advantage. If your playing a caster or ranged person learn to predict how the computer will act . If your playing a melee person, the computer sucks at defending against a rush tactic but ia very good at the dodge rush game so dont always follow.
The only people you should have trouble with are sephiroth and tidusses dad. Both hit hard combo well and have an absurdly large range for melee fighters and tend to dodge alot.
Also look into rearrange ur abilities and power ups.
The computer does have it's lamer moments (Advanced Mode Sephiroth is near-unbeatable as Terra, since he blocks, reflects or dodges almost all ranged attacks, and simply dances away from Terra's Tornado attack. Oh, and never EVER use Holy against him), and I did run from some fights because of it during Shade Impulse. I've got the game suspended now on Chaos's fight. Would have had it done days sooner if I hadn't spent 2 days trying to beat Sephy. It's obvious that there are some characters that were given far more unfair moves (Seriously, a multi-strike Brave attack that hits for 300 Brave per strike? SERIOUSLY?) and often the cheating is due to the CPU having unlimited accessories and accessory slots, as well as having mastered all abilities so they can pile them on more.
Overall, it's no worse than some fighting games, and a lot of the "cheap, unfairness" can be overcome by powerleveling about a character so that you crush them outright with a few strikes. I actually beat Chaos's first form in about 30 seconds. He managed to mash my face in since I was expecting a cutscene, not another form, so I've got some ground to make up for sure when I go in for him on the resume.
I figure when I have as many accessories as the computer pulls out its ***, my fighters will be as badass as theirs.
But this game is so frustrating sometimes. The computer cheats..
Computers always cheat, especially in fighting and strategy games.

The gameplay videos look a lot like dbz budokai tenkaichi, which imo had a very good system of engagement, giving you an intuitive and accessible 3 dimensions instead of just a 2d plane with sidestep actions.
For example: You can deflect or reflect ranged attacks. However, to do so as a human opponent is ridiculously hard. I've managed it twice in several hours (10+ now) of gameplay, both of them using a massive Tornado move Terra uses. However, the computer can quite regularly not only deflect, but reflect your ranged attacks. It doesn't do it 100% of the time in most cases, but some of the AI mobs will block absolutely everything, stopping ranged fighters cold.
Another I already mentioned: Unlimited access to abilities, accessories and slots, even in lower level modes. I just made level 77 and JUST obtained one ability enemies have had since the mid 20's. It's slightly ridiculous when a character 20 levels below you can hit you for other 1,000 damage just due to having high level powers and infinite boosting accessories.
The final one is the spawning of the EX cores, which power you up and allow you to do some spectacular damage. There are certain fights where the spawns seem to always be right next to or even on top of the CPU enemy. Nothing like wearing down a higher level foe only to have him he handed back nearly half his HP in regen from going into EX mode.
There is one other one, but it needs spoilerage: There's a specific zone that phases between two states: Regular and a random mirror of other worlds. The phasing interrupts some moves, and resets your spacing, facing and what not as if you just started. And often, this phasing occurs only when you have the CPU enemy cornered. It gets really annoying after backing them into a trap that they get a free ride, or worse yet get a fully unblockable counter because you're in stun lock after a move and have been tee'd up by the zone shift. UGH!
As an update, however, I did finish the final storyline, and completed Shantoto's questline. I had to run through the Duel mode for a bit to get points for her, but now I'm busily grinding her up. She's a pain in the *** to use right now. Without Bind it's really hard to finish people... and forget breaking them.
I still have a hard time understanding some of the accessories. What are they boosting?
The only unfair thing the computer has is the SMNs, Generally the SMNs are what is killing you since they get ones that will triple their bravery or do something similar.
As for ranged users, its best to get some melee attacks in their and stack on some physical damage boosting, while trying to combo. The ranged users have the most destructive combos in the game, Just need to set them up.

Present in smash brothers as well.
That's not really cheating though. A human can do things like that. In many occasions though, a computer will just sidestep (what i'd guess are artificial) physics limitations on the player.
