Mechwarrior 5!?Follow

Oh dear Lord

I play through Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries about once a year. I still love it, even with the dated graphics. If there is a MW5 in the works (and it looks like there is) then I'm going to be very happy.

I hope it's another true Mechwarrior game and not one of those crappy Mech Assault spinoffs. I tried Mech Assault 2's multiplayer mode and got kicked from every game room because I didn't want to stand around for 5 minutes waiting for everyone to get max powerups. Then they would have a 10 sec battle in which you see who can Alpha Strike the fastest, then rinse and repeat. GD little ADD bastards.

It better be. God I love MechWarrior. My favourite mech was the Nova Cat. Turn off Overheating and let the PPCs fly...

Mechassault multiplayer was pretty crap, unless you were playing the co-op survival mode, that was pretty cool.

normal multiplayer in the first game was pretty much 75% of the people in ragnaroks, youd spend 98% of a fights time fighting a guy someone else would toss one shot off and steal the kill from you.

If they make a mechassault game, hopefully its a mix of the 2, I want some mech customization dammit.

I have the entire series. 3 was my favorite, but it doesn't play well with my current PC...even in compatibility mode. :(

Install VMWare on your PC and use Win95/98 for the OS, that's what I use to play Mech3 when I'm interested.

Hmm interesting. I just realized that I still have this:
Screenshot

I wonder if I can manage to get it to play?

I remember that one of the cheat codes is "IDKFA" which anyone from that time will recognize as the all weapons cheat from Doom. In Mech 2 it initiates a self destruct of you mech and says something to the effect of this game is not Doom. Ah, memories of gaming past...

As I recall, you could put that CD into a CD player and play the first track, or maybe everything except the first track. Anyway, the music was awesome and I used to listen to it all the time outside of the game.

Seriously LOVE Mechwarrior.

To promote the announcement, Smith & Tinker also announced that it will be offering FASA Studio's well-regarded MechWarrior 4, along with its several expansion packs, as a free download through BattleTech.com. Smith & Tinker did not indicate when the free download would be available, saying only that it will be coming "soon."

Hopefully it runs good in XP, and has widescreen support.
