Trial promotion?Follow

I'm a complete newb to SWG, but I recently downloaded the trial, and I'm loving playing as a smuggler. However, I was wondering: If I choose to buy the set they have in the station store, the complete online ADV premium, does it also include a free month? Because if not, I will wait until my trial is done and then buy it if I have to pay for time after the trial regardless.

Well I really don't know but I found this in the knowledge base...

If you have created a station name and successfully logged into the trial, simply follow these steps to charge your credit card now and get the full version of the game.

1. Log into the game normally
2. Welcome screen will give you the "Join Now!" button, click it
3. Login screen will appear, so use the same login name and password.
4. Select "Subscribe now" button
5. Select method of payment
6. If credit card, enter the requested information and click submit
a. If game card, enter the code when prompted
7. If the subscription is successful, you will get an on-screen prompt informing you.
8. Congratulations! You are now fully subscribed to the game.

Please note that regardless of how far into the trial you are, it will charge your credit card immediately for the subscription.

My guess from the last paragraph is that you don't get the free month.

Just to clarify, if I buy the Complete SWG with all expansions, do I still have to pay monthly? If so this is ridiculous, totally unlike normal games, etc. I suppose I'll have to keep installing the trial?

My best guess would be that you would still et your free month, I say this because IIRC, I had played an EQ trial, and an EQ2 trial, and when i bought them i got my free month, but i only got my free month after putting in my credit card details for the subscription, dont know why it needed that.

Wouldn't take this as a definite yes though, could be different for galaxies.

EDIT: keep in mind i was upgrading with boxed copies, not whatever upgrade programs they might have had for trials.

Ah well. I don't have a credit card, you see. You would think games would stick to being a one-time purchase...

This is an MMO not a shooter nor a RTS...you are not hosting the game locally on your PC....someone has to maintain the servers. Second...use pre-paid credit cards...you can get them in any increment. Why do noobs to MMO's always ask the same question...."You mean there is a monthly fee...WHY?!?"

you can also buy game time cards for swg too, they only do 30 day ones at the moment, the downside of course is that it only works on a single game(not just swg but any of the other SOE games too) if you want to get station access then you have to go the credit card route, as far as i know that is, if anyone has any more information on that i'd be interested ;D

I am NOT going to use credit cards! SOE is so not civilised, they don't use debit cards. So it'll have to be the game time cards for me. Where do you get them?

You can get them at most large electronics stores, I know they have them at:
- Bestbuy
- Gamestop
- Walmart
- EBGames

They are labeled for all SOE games not only SWG.

Lol, how is not using debit uncivilized? Many online places don't take debit, especially mmos.

Credit cards encourage bad money managing, so I only go to places which take debit. Anyway, thanks for the info, and I just wondered how much these 30 day passes cost?

"PRE-PAID"....that means the money has already exchanged hands.....your limit is what you spent. If you can't manage that....maybe you shouldn't touch a calulator:|

i know what he means, i dont like credit cards either, i buy my game time cards online, they don't have them in any shops that i know of in the UK - the only ones i've seen on sale in the UK are for WOW and Warhammer, and i pay by paypal, which... debits my bank account automatically, i stopped using credit cards about a year ago i think, considering the state of most of those companies, probably a good move ;D
