That's one thing that I thought was rather unique about FFXII, there's not really a love story. Granted I haven't quite beaten the game yet (I'm in the second to last area) so I could be wrong, but I'd think if they were going to put a love story in there they would have done it by now.

Again, Revenant Wings

It's still pretty subtle though.

As to XII, my god did that game suck. It's the only FF game that I've played and not finished. I just couldn't put myself through it anymore.

This is me with X-2.

I don't get why people rag on X-2 so much. Yes, the story was crap, but the gameplay was incredible. It had one of the best battle systems in the series.

I just couldn't take the storyline. The whole Charlie's Angels thing combined with a mediocre storyline and obnoxious 'enemies' (read: L'blanc syndicate or whateverthehelltheycalledthemselves)

Throw in the fact that the ending was dependent on completely asinine Easter egg hunting made it even worse. Oh, you didn't talk to obscure person A during obsure mission 2, no 100% for you.

I don't really care. It was the only game since 5 that let me make a dark knight/blackmage viable, and oh my god black sky for 1 mp was just incredible after you got the ragnarok.

While I generally liked X-2, I definitely agree with this. I've now played through the game almost three entire times trying to get the damned perfect ending. The second time I played through the game I missed it by one mission in the second chapter. I still haven't gotten around to beating the game a third time yet, I don't really care anymore. On the plus side though, I think I almost have the Alchemist job completely unlocked on Rikku (I honestly don't remember since it's been over two years since I played it last)! Quite an achievement considering the insane amount of points it takes to unlock one of the abilities, I forget which one.

Finally beat the game yesterday. I was pretty disappointed with the last bosses. My party was level 49 or 50 and I had absolutely no trouble at all with all but the final boss, and even that one wasn't hard. I had a few deaths on him, and the Piercing Dispelga spell was annoying, but that was about it. The ending was okay, but not wonderful. I may go back at some point and finish up the five or so marks I have left, but I doubt it.

This could be a great opportunity to do a "Let's Play Final Fantasy 12" thread.

Driftwood, how would you like to share your pain with all of us?

I was waiting for Allegory to pop this forum's LP cherry, but I haven't heard from him on that subject.

If you're unfamiliar with the term, there is a thread on the first page here that explains it.

Umm, yeah, you know, I know what the concept is, but I don't quite feel up to doing it with FF12...someone else can, but I just don't have that kind of time right now as it's kind of a busy summer for me.

Yep, it takes a certain kind of masochism to actually do a Let's Play for a game you hate.

The only thing fueling you on would be the groans of pain from everyone reading and commiserating.

Also, I have to salute the people who write FAQs, walkthroughs, AARs and LPs. They work their asses off for no tangible reward, small wonder so many of them abandon before the end.

Probably Elixir, it's 999. Ether is 400 and Mega Phoenix is 200, so it could be one of those too. Fully unlocking Alchemist isn't that hard compared to fully unlocking all three special dress spheres though.

What? I had the Brady Guide in a cabinet not ten feet away.

Yeah, Elixir was the one I was mainly referring to. My Brady games guide is packed away in a box somewhere, otherwise I would have looked it up before I posted. =x You practically have to buy the damn thing to unlock the perfect ending, either that or use an online walkthrough.
