I posted this link on one of the other boards, then realized it applies even better to this forum. Creepy story.

While in bad taste, it seems appropriate:

He said he stabbed him to avoid being stabbed... 86 times.

This is somewhat relevant.

After a german shooting in march, which they 'linked' to violent video games, they're now planning a blanket ban on violent games, with one of the big derpartment stores over there already having removed all 18+ DVD and games from its shelf.

Personally, I think the link between video games and violence is fragile at best . I play violent games, and have not, to the best of my knowledge, killed anybody . Neither have any of my gaming friends or family . I think the ONLY way video games are going to drive anyone to violence is if they're already screwed up in the head - as the fella in the op and the fella who did the shooting in germany clearly must have been .

The facts are, the guy mentioned in that article is batsh*t crazy. You don't stab 86 times "in self defense."

Whoever typed that article is wrong to also imply that video games led to this, or even mention something so irrelevant anyways. You achieve the same effect simply by mentioning that the couple met the man online. No use dragging video games into this unless you want to beat the dead, and still producing, horse of "video games = mass murderers".
