Sitting here listening to music I began to wonder.. what is my favorite 3 final fantasy games? Well it definitely took some thought, but after said thought I came to a conclusion.

My favorite 3 in no specific order:

Final Fantasy Tactics
: My very first tactical RPG and I must say still it is my favorite. The story is appealing and has a sort of "realistic middle ages" feel to it. Some specifics I like about it are the "special" job classes such as Holy Knight, Temple Knight, etc. I also like how a person of non royal blood rises up to become king. It's a tragic yet honorable story that no fan of the series should overlook.

Final Fantasy 7: Anyone who doesn't adore 7 is absolutely ridiculous. Final Fantasy 7 has those characters that everyone loves to fantasize over. A stupidly good story and fantastic gameplay made Final Fantasy 7 hard to follow. Final Fantasy 8 just never stood a chance. The back of the case to final fantasy 7 perhaps says it best, quite possibly the greatest game ever made.

Final Fantasy 10: After Final Fantasy 8 and 9 (which I enjoyed to a degree) the series seemed to be running low on creative ideas. That is until the emergence of Final Fantasy 10. DO NOT let the haters fool you, 10 was very enjoyable and brought many new twists to the series. I enjoy the storys twists and turns, and the characters were enjoyable, although limited.

My official order would be:

1. Final Fantasy 7
2. Final Fantasy 10
3. Final Fantasy Tactics

dang.. and I told myself I wouldn't put 7 as number one /whines.

but anyways please do not hesitate to tell me your rankings and reasonings. Thanks for reading!

First of all: this will not end well.

Second:

1. Final Fantasy 8. I know, I know. I love it though.
2. Final Fantasy 6. Although I got really sick of it towards the end when you had all or most of the characters and the story branched out.
3. Final Fantasy 11, I guess. I've played just about every FF game and never finished any of them. I just get bored of them after awhile.

OP nominated 7, so his opinion is already void.

I'm going to take it upon myself to be the insufferable **** that has to correct you.

It's Ramza.
Ranma was a Kung-fu Anime that Tailmon likes.

FFVII Doesn't come in my my top 5.

FFVIII, FFIX, FFXI, FFVII:Crisis Core, FF:Tactics War of the lions (PSP).

VII is good, just overrated.

I have a lot of nostalgia for VII because it was the first game I really got into. I never enjoyed football games or fighting games for more than a few days, then got bored with them. Nothing (except obvious classic platform games like mario, sonic, streets of rage and goldenaxe) held my attention for any duration until I got FFVII. For that reason I'd put it number one on my list.

I'm not saying it's the best. Having played all the others, I know that isn't true. But for me, it always brings a wave of contentment and nostalgia to watch that opening train scene again, or try to hit the button at the same time, or any of the countless minigames that added to the experience. None of the others hold that nostalgic appeal, and I feel that it's the reason so many people put it as their #1.

It may not be the best for whatever reasons, but it was certainly memorable.

FFXI- No other Final Fantasy was able to hold my attention for that long at a stretch.

FFX- I loved the storyline and the characters. (Except Tidus, go figure.) I'll also admit that finally giving voice to the characters I was sharing my adventures with, for the first time, was a huge factor in my choice.

FFIX- I loved the fact that even though my learning of abilities was reliant on gear, the ability was not infinitely dependent on my wardrobe once I learned it. The side quests were genuinely fun (I think I spent more time digging for Chocographs than playing the storyline) And, even though he dressed like a complete tool, the main character wasn't some whiny, emo prick. (Although he had his moments later on, of course)

6,4,9 In that order

If you want to list the tactics then...

TA2,TA,T in that order

And by the way, can someone move this to =22?

Of all that i've played

6>4>9>8=10>TA2>5>TA>1(judging for its time)>TA>7>>>>>>...>>>>>...>>>>CC

XI doesn't belong on these lists. It's not a final fantasy game by virtue of anything but fan service.

It's a good mmo though, but you can't in good conscience judge it next to offline rpgs.

If Zidane never got to be emo, then Uematsu wouldn't have gotten to compose You're Not Alone which is possibly the best song in the already superb soundtrack.
