Is there any word what Turbine may consider for the next hobby?

well if there is not, what about what we (the players) would want as hobbies?

i like treasure hunting. get map drops from mobs, and have to recognize the layout from the map view (ie Bree to the east, so the X spot must
be around X,Y in Bree-land).

once you go there, it can be either solo to fight mobs that spawn
when you open the treasure, or a group effort. or both, depending on the treasure map you got.

Much speculation but nothing concrete has surfaced as the next possible 'hobby'.

I think Turbine might have painted themselves into a corner with using this concept to implement fishing.

Has anyone actually found any use for hobbies, other than as a money sink and a waste of time?

I saw many people fishing. They enjoy it.

If you want to get picky, the whole genre of mmorpg is a time waster, and we even lose real money on it a month at a time, after we already bought it. Imagine that craziness.

Not much of a money sink. It is essentially free. You can spend a few coins on bait (which the jury is still out as to whether it improves anything), or a player-crafted pole (still likely to be very cheap), but thats it. Your fishing pole never needs repairs.

Some of the fish can be turned into stat food by cooks, so fishing does have some benefits other than just fluff.
