I'm playing it now, on the Osha server, I haven't played that much and only reached 15/13 Scout/Rogue. So far I've enjoyed it, hit me up sometime if you need help or wanna just duo some quests. Name in game is Kouran.

I'm downloading the client now.

I wish they would just give me a Torrent rather than just a fake torrent client. I've found that if I let my Upload speed go full bore, it slows my whole connection down. So I set my personal bittorrent client to upload 5k under my max upload, so I can have nearly full upload and download capabilities without slowing my connection. Their pseudo torrent client has no upload cap capabilities, so using it kills my connection for everything but it.

So I have to download it from their slow servers, at about 90KBps

I used this site to DL it, I found it pretty reliable (most others would be incomplete downloads)

The website has some striking similarities. Haven't played the game so I can't say beyond that.

It shares alot in common.
Rogues use energy and warriors use rage, the UI also looks similar but there are alot of differences too. You have a sub job similar to that of FFXI but instead of being half the level it's the same although class specific skills wont carry over from your sub-class (each class has class skills and class specific skills).

I haven't messed with the crafting yet but you can get gems to upgrade your equipment and some items have slots for stones (or runes or something) which again is kinda similar to WoW except there are no colors I think only levels.
You also don't have to buy spells, you're given them at certain levels and you earn points by killing monsters and doing quests to build them up.
Also there's XP debt but it's not as bad as it sounds, at least not for me yet (I'm only 18).

My only real complaint so far is about the mounts, all I've found so far are the ones you can rent, for like 15 mins - 2 hours. The permanent ones seem to be the ones you have to spend real cash for but I guess I can understand that with no monthly fee and all they have to turn a profit.

This is very common in all free to play MMOs. They have an "Item Market" where you can buy points and purchase items for your game.

Took me an entire day to download the client from the runes of magic website, then upon install, I got a corrupt file error and the install couldn't be finished.

Trying again from that Games on Net link, but my expectations are now far lower than they were yesterday. I expect every tiny flaw will seem like giant game breaking glitches now, considering the trouble I've gone through to try this game out.

I don't expect I'll be playing for very long.

Let me know what server you're on Nix, I have the game installed but I wanted to play with others I know.

I'm NixNot on Osha, or whatsitsname.

It really is Free WoW. It shares so much in common with wow that I find it hard to believe that Blizzard has yet to bring a lawsuit against them.

Aside from a little choppy lag it's an ok game. It does seem as deep and fufilling as WoW, but I have yet to see if they have any instance combat, or unlock their FFXI-esque dual job system.
