Anybody have any idea how to, or know of any programs that would allow me to play Diablo 1 in a windowed screen? Right now I run my computer in 1440x900 + 800x600 and because of that I can't play diablo 1 full screen.

And before anybody suggests it, adding -w to the end of target in the properties doesn't make the game run windowed. I'm sure there's some cracked .dlls or some apps out there to make it work, something that doesn't take up all my computers resources like VM. Google has forsaken me and keeps leading me to dead ends.

It doesn't look like it's possible

Are you using Windows XP? Try setting the compatability for the Diablo 1 exe to "Run in 640x480"

That might work... (won't be windowed, but it would run in a resolution more suited for the time it was created).

Diablo 1 only runs in 640x480, that's not the problem. Because I have a dual screen setup fullscreen apps like this usually crash when I use them. Windowing it almost always fixes this problem.

I could easily turn off my secondary screen since it's only my TV and play diablo 1 in fullscreen at 640x480, but I really despise running anything in fullscreen pretty much to the point where I won't play it on the computer if it has to be fullscreen.

Try this application, supposed to be able to force anything into a windowed mode.

Doesn't work. :/ I think it's because that application uses DirectX to hook it into a windowed mode, and diablo uses direct draw which is a very early version of directX.

Only other thing I can think of is to get a virtual console like VMWare and install Win 95/98 to it; then play D1 on that.

Meh, pretty much the only thing I don't want to do. Smiley: lol Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and play it on my laptop or something.
