As a Gamer of a few years now, started with an old amstrad 464+
Ive seen recent trend in games is well sequals and next installments.
First up i dont mind them and this isnt really a disscussion on if theres too many or not.

I was thinking maybe game companys now are doing more harm than good by adding numbers to there latest games.
In europe when dragon quest 8 came over here it was simply named Dragon quest
The journey of the cursed king. they did this because people in europe would never have played some the eairlier games.
now im playing through final fantasy 8 again but wow it was made 10 years ago and im 27 instead or 17 now , will younger games really get or care if its final fantasy 13 or just another game.
to me a good game will sell on its own strengths , while for example final fantasy to me is an amazing series im wondering is it time to ditch the number format.
This goes for all games companys and the games, not just squareenix and its games.

what do other gamers think?

Are there gamers older than me that think we should keep numbers?
and younger gamers do you care about them?

ok hope this topic will get some response because been thinking of it a fair bit.

Market analysis says otherwise.

Branding/latching on to previous successes has always proven to provide higher sales. Companies would be stupid not to take advantage of that fact.
