So I was playing LOTRO back in April thru July. My computer sucked and I had horrible lag issues in game. The game was at the lowest settings and it was still very bad.

I was playing on Mendelor <sp> server with DBS kin, and I was having lots of fun. I enjoyed it for the most part, but my biggest issues was lag and it was hard to get a group without having issues. My toons were fairly low level below 30, but it was the most fun I had. I really enjoyed crafting, which I never do.

I was getting frustrated with my computer issues since I would spend 20-30 minutes trying to walk in Bree, so I stopped playing and went back to WOW... I know I know. I returned only because my computer could handle that game.

I bought a new computer in November the week of WOTLK expansion release and I bought the game to give it a try. During the course of playing the new WOW expansion I tried to load my LOTRO game and realized that my MAC would not load the game. I was upset and forgot it was not compatible with MAC.

I have to say I am bored of WOW and I purchased Windows to play LOTRO and I am waiting for it in the mail. It should arrive tomorrow. I bought the MoM expansion and I cannot wait to go back to playing LOTRO. My MAC has tons of memory so I hope to not have any more issues. I can't wait to play some of the new classes, but I think I will have to start back to 0 with the noobness.

I wonder if my DBS kin kicked me from not being active since July/August.

Was there a question buried in there somewhere? If so I missed it but thanks for sharing.

My suggestions are as follows;

1) Lose the toy computer. Macintosh is only good for... ummm... well, ok... it really isn't good for anything except vacuuming out the contents of your wallet! If you buy a real computer, not only will you have more money and a more powerful machine, you won't be saddled with an operating system that is bolted on to another operating system and needs to spend a sizable portion of it's meager volume of available processing cycles just to communicate with itself.

You note that you were "upset and forgot it (LOTRO) was not compatible with MAC". but this should have been been no surprise since NOTHING is compatible with Mac except programs written specifically for the platform. (Note: most of these will also have "cutesy" names like "boot camp" so you should easily be able to tell them apart from real applications.)

Regarding now having "tons of memory", RAM is only part of the problem. You will also need a powerful CPU and a top notch video card. Otherwise you will be stuck playing the game at the lowest settings and will live in the land of lag (as you did before)

As far as DBS, try contacting them directly. I'm sure they maintain a web site and can tell you there whether or not your characters are still members of the kin.

In the mean time, you can still play WoW. It was designed to run on any old POS computer... even a Mac. And if you still insist on buying Apple, consider this new product: NEW MAC

Seriously OBD, don't hold back, tell us what you really think about MACs...MAC wheel bit was hilarious btw.

Xiaomi:

DBS should take you back if you contact them (if they happened to purge you).

If not, take a look at TiNFS. Just ask one of the TiNFS people in game for a kin-vite ('cept if it's OBD and you are on a MAC!)

Wow, OBD really hates macs.

New Mac? Boot Camp it.

I'm about as bad as OBD, especially since the Intel chip sets went in. New Macs are from a hardware perspective the same box as an equal spec PC with 2.5x the price tag. Apple doesn't innovate anything these days, they only sell an image/lifestyle with a healthy price tag.

I'm thinking the Mac fiends are spending $2,500 for something that could be built as a comparable PC for about $1,000 so they can have access to the Mac User Superiority Complex limited license.

Whats not to hate?

They're over priced and under powered.

But the worst part is the Mac-noids and their knee jerk, holier than thou, "I'm special because I own a Mac" attitude.

Well I used Boot Camp downloaded Windows Vista and downloaded LOTRO w/MOM. I had to tweak the graphics in the game and it runs beautifully. I am very very happy with my Mac's ability to run both programs with out any issues. The original issue was not with Mac it was with an old sony 2001 Viao computer that had low memory.

I logged on and I was still in a Kin...I am glad to see DBS doesnt drop toons for inactivity. I tried RNK and Warden, but I am liking Warden more. I dont have anymore lag issues and I am experiencing the game as it should be. I finally get to see those jaw dropping areas. When my Elf finished the starter area and went to the level 6+ zone, I was in shock with the shadows of the trees and I knew this was my home...

Thanks OldBlueDragon Sage, but I am very happy with my Macs ability to use both Leopard and Windows.

Yeah I prefer Mac's ease compared to Windows. After downloading Windows on my Mac and the ability to use windows only products, I am never leaving Mac.

For myself, I'll probably never buy a mac. I've been raised on PC, I can't change now!

Burned? I think not. After roughly 25 years Apple Macintrash still holds onto less than 7% of the personal computer market. And the number is only that high because they give away countless machines to school computer labs and film & TV production companies in the vain attempt to convince folks to buy the product... but it just isn't happening. Never has, never will.

7% - that's the best foothold they can manage to capture after 25 years.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. They are over priced and under powered.

And Apples latest ploy (of shifting to intel CPUs after years of claiming that Motorola built a "better" processor) still hasn't helped them put a dent in the PC market.

Yeah, they're slick and polished on the outside but anyone with more than half a brain sees past the shiny package and ends up buying PC not Apple.

There was a time when computer users, even PC owners, were willing to knee jerk into nodding their heads in agreement whenever someone stated "Apples are 'better' at running 'artistic' applications like Photoshop and PCs are just for things like spreadsheets and word processing." But those days are gone.

The most successful "artistic" programs on the market - Photoshop & Pro-tools - run better on PC. And maybe more important, can be found installed on far more PCs than Macs. In fact, a few years back Pro-tools announced they wouldn't even be making their software for Mac any longer. In their opinion, PCs just ran the program better!

Why buy an (overly) expensive computer with an alternative operating system and then use it to run the same operating system you paid to avoid?

You wanna buy a Mac, be my guest. A fool and his money are soon parted...

But I've been using them for years in the work place and you can take my word for it. They suck!
