The timer in Majora's Mask can be slowed down by playing the Song of Time backwards. In a legitmate speed run, that game is beaten through
one 3-day cycle (the cycle after the one you get your instrument back from). That's just saying how little the timer matters, it's the bane of even my existence when I play it. Going back in time to do some things over again is what adds to the replayability that Ocarina of Time is lacking more of.
To those who still have Majora's Mask and dislike the timer, there's a glitch that allows us to play on the 4th day (infinite days). The start button won't function until you wait till night pass, which you can speak to the scarecrow to pass the time quicker. The scarecrow instead of playing Song of Double Time because that locks up the game. Can save anytime at the owl statue, playing Song of Time won't lock the game. A side effect during the 4th day is that the NPCs as well as objects that change or move around from the normal 3-day cycle will vanish. NPCs such as the postman, Kafei, carpenters, etc. will all be gone (tower from South Clock Town is the example of the object that will vanish).
One video to show of how it's done is
here. Works on any version.

...draining with sambas is kind of like you smack the thing and as you smack blood flies out... normally the blood would just you know fall and be red an what-not, but, with the samba your all whacked out and decide to drink the blood as it flys out. thus not adding MORE damage just taking more advantage of your damage. at least thats my take on it.
