After you revive Chrono, but before you go and fight Lavos, in what order should you do the miniquests that the old man gives you? (Preferrably in order of easiest/lowest level -> hardest/highest level)

And, to make it simple:

A) A forest brought back to life by the sheer determination of a woman in the
Middle Ages

B) The fortress of one of Magus's three former generals in the Middle Ages

C) A task to be done in the future, in a birthplace of machines

D) A prehistoric stone that will shine with the light of all the ages of the
world

E) The restless spirit of a proud knight, slain by Magus in the Middle Ages, and
lingering even in the present"

F) An object of legend in the Middle Ages that sparkles like a rainbow

I didnt really have trouble with any of them, but i would say that B, C and E are the easier ones, Ds not bad if you activated those blacks chests in the past but didn't open them, the opened them in the future, or got the 100% fire absorb armour from somewhere else.

not to say that A and F are really hard, i just think there somewhat tougher.

Can't advise you on the order because I just picked them randomly; however I can give you advice on the boss for A. Do Not Attack The Middle Segment!! Focus on the top half to kill it's ability to drain hp then attack the lower half. If you destroy the middle before the other parts the boss will gain a huge defense boost anytime you attack it pretty much making it invincible. If you do save the middle for last it will die by itself after the 2 main segments are defeated.

As for D, you are gonna need the Fire Absorb armor mentioned by MasterOfWar for this fight, the boss only uses fire based attacks. As long as you have the armor on at least one character you can take your time defeating the boss.

F, the boss is weak to ice attacks now instead of lightning.

Also, the blue force field like tent on the map for the present has 2 black chests in it, of which you can only open one. Open the left chest, it contains damage reduction armor, the right chest contains a sword for Chrono that can be replaced easily. As for the Rainbow Shell, pick the dress instead of the 3 weaker helm as the armor you want crafted from it.

Fiona is pretty easy; the dungeon is only two screens. The hardest is the rust tyrano, and the easiest is the second trial. Son of Sun is pretty easy if you bother to get ruby armor. Mother Brain is probably the second hardest after rust tyrano. Cyrus is medium.

You shouldn't get a prism dress from melchior. You can charm one off of zeals hand or something, maybe it was the face. Point is, it's foolish to get the dress that can only help a single female character (which can be gotten later) when you could get the three best helmets in the game for your entire party. On your second game, you should get the dress, which will have you a moon armor and two prism dresses by the second half of the game on playthrough number 2

Anyways

Fiona > Cyrus > Son of Sun > Ozzie/Flea/Slash > Mother > Rust Tyrano

Oh, you can charm a red plate from the rust tyrano if you want to do him before son of sun, but you can get ruby armor very easily from 65mil bc at the trading post, so it's not really needed.

C I enjoyed the least.

If I'm doing them again, I would go this order (out of preference):

A > B > D > E > F > C

If you can beat one, no real need to level up for the rest. If you want to power up Crono first, do F.

Does the DS version have the Dragon Ball Z like cutscenes from the PS1 version? I swear Chrono looks like Goku.

The DS version has everything that the PS1 version had, minus the horrible load times, plus some special feature that is seperate of your actual game, where you level up a monster, kinda like Pokemon, and can get armor and stuff for your main game.
