Well you start by having made him 3 or more years ago.

As I understand it (and I could be wrong) the only way to be an "Elder" anything is to have mastered the skill before the NGE although I am not sure the mastered part applies to Jedi I think they just have to have been unlocked prior to the NGE.

It won't be...Elder Jedi were a Pre-NGE thing. All the classes I believe had Elder classes.

The other open option for you if you want an Elder Jedi....you could by an account. This I do not recommend because of the many scams that are out there.

It is possible to buy an account and then transfer the character off the account to one you own, this would reduce the chance of being scammed.

No. However, that never really stopped anyone.

i seem to remember one of the first Jedi accounts was sold for quite a bit of money..... pre-nge that is, talking several hundred pounds sterling too, but that was when Jedi's were uber and few and far between. Guy who bought it probably wishing he hadnt now....

i used to look up jedi accounts on ebay out of curiousity pre-nge, i rememebr them being like $1300 US dollars, this was when the game was in its prime and jedi was alpha. if i recall they were being bid on too

it was a big thing back then, i seem to remember that a jedi account got ebay'd for a significant amount, but yes, back then Jedi were the big thing, you can't really compare them to the jedi today, as their completely different, Jedi now seem to be the specialists in running away.. if you go by the 'grumbles' on the official boards anyway, back then a Jedi could take on you, your mates, and their mates too, they could even eat 4 wheatabix ;D

I did do a bit of checking....I found Elder Jedi accounts between $150 to $170 USD. If you dig the game that much, go for it. I really like the game....but not that much.

heh..heh..heh....typos ;P

they still sell for that much.... kind of surprised, but i guess if an account is inactive its not worth anything to the owner so may as well try and flog it :D

maybe SOE could drum up some quick cash by selling them, they need the money at the moment ;D

Well.....I have an idea. Why don't they sell some packages in thier games that will include discontinued rewards in thier MMO's. Hell I woud buy some for SWG. Granted some players would be upset and the value of said items would go down, but isn't that part of the problem with farmers. People buy creds to buy the premium items. It's harder for the farmers to gouge for these items if we can pick them up for SOE...for the less than the farmers are charging for AT-RT, rare paintings, or even pre-nge items.

to spend a couple hundred dollars on ebay and still die in pvp, would feel like **** i'd imagine.. my spy kills like 40% of the jedi he crosses.

or spend a couple hundred $$$ on ebay to stand around with the other jedi who got theres 90 in a month or so by respecing from commando/BM, talking about jedi stuff.

buy a jedi. yea what a life.

or those ppl who spend $1,000+ pre-NGE only to have theres now worth $150, if even that.

like jedi were even worth that much anyway, it was so patheticly easy to get jedi pre nge, all it did was take time.

about 4 months and youd have a jedi with little to no work involved, well, there was a little more work involved once they stopped people from nade farming exp in groups for the exp that had the nice trade in.

nades were for combat xp or something like that?

i still have crafted nades that work, they have a huge particle which ppl hate particles. they devs put an end to nades being crafted recently for some reason.

in earlier version of NGE, i think before expertise, crafted nades would pwn especially a jedi cuz they could not be saber blocked, and could be looped to a macro, to throw about 4 nades in 2 seconds, each nade doing about 1.2k dmg before armor, and were action free..

the particle from 4 nades (therm deton, imp explosive, C24, cryon) plus 1 innate nade, (flashbang)-5 grenades in all in about 2 seconds was blinding to say the least,

with venomous cloud particle mixed in it all, with ion stunner lightning gun and its particle firing lighning out in multi directions, if the dmg idnt kill them the lag usually would

I remember a Jedi fighting four Bounty Hunters at once. Back when you could get buffed through the roof (made nigh invincible). The Hunters were buffed, the Jedi wasn't.

Jedi are a joke now, to be honest.

you make that sound like a bad thing, alpha classes ruin mmos, eventually everyone just plays that, thats the way it was going before the nge, hell, theres probably less jedi now, then there would be if the NGE hadnt have happened.

id say at least 75% of the people i grinded with were grinding out village exp.

yup, something like that, general combat exp, if you tossed a nade at the start and hit everything then did nothing, you would get your full exp in combat exp, which had one of, if not the higest turn in rate at teh village, making it really easy to grind out the exp.

Um, no. There are WAY more Jedi now than there would have been if they had never introduced the moronic "village", and more now than there would have been without the NGE.

Making Jedi a starting profession took all of the "coolness" factor out of them for players at the time of the NGE, but opened them up to SOE/LA's NGE target-market: 12-17 year-old males with the attention span of a gnat.

there were a few in pre-CU who did not think jedi were that cool, most ppl did. i can understand their bitterness, but i do not share it. some ppl wanted to play gunslingers and some did ok. i knocked down/stunned a jedi in CU one time for like 90 seconds with /panicshot or something. didnt kill em but man was he angry, and in a populated cantina we were. i just let him lay ther cuz i was a shipwright with some smuggler tree, the stun one, if i dmged him again it killed the mez. i ran too late and he killed me, but it was in some back alley where no one saw. but they all saw him in the cantina stunned and KO'ed by a shipwright for 90+ seconds.

and then there was the week or two you could stack spice.. that was fun

Now all you have is Noobs and Posers running around wif the schwartz hangin out beating each other into a truly sick euphoria, and jumping any noob who accidently change their duty status while trying to setup their tool bars or learning the controls. I have 1 Jedi out of what?......14 toons. It's the easy button with no recourse when abused. PVP is fun when you take all dumbazzes or the F-tards who live and die by it. My main is a shipwright with 4 PVP kills, one of which was a jedi who was AFK. I loved that....DIE you afk dood! None explore the reason for the attraction in the first place...being a Jedi, Not beating someone with your glowing stick. Although that is indeed part of it, but if is all they are looking for....play KOTOR and possibly soon SWOTR. It really bugs me that lamers really do nothing but whip out thier schwartz and try to touch you with it.......icky!

so becasue they want to be a jedi, the main focus of star wars (undeniable really) that makes them noobs? good luck with that, star wars is jedi to pretty much 90% of star wars fans, you better get used to it, just look at pretty much every star wars game out there, theres maybe a handful where the focus isnt on jedi, even the vehicle ones are mostly focused on jedi.

im with Az on this, people probably do associate starwars with jedi, but swg was never meant to be 'just about jedi' its too single track for a game that was meant to be far more encompassing, ok, i know the nge changed a great deal of that, but the different classes brought the game to life, the freedom to choose your path, your career and skills, was just amazing, the game lost so much when it was taken out, by removing a lot of the freedoms that we had been used to, but, i still think that jedi should never have been a player option, npc jedi, of course, but very few, even of them, the present game is a complete anachronism of the games supposed era. it was supposed to be a game that brought the starwars universe to life, the gcw, even was only supposed to be a part of it, the more limits have been placed on the game, the less there is of it, until now of course, we have the jediathons, lets all stand in a circle and bash each other with lightsabres until only one is left, whoopee.. alright i know thats a simplistic look at the gcw these days, but its not by much. meanwhile pve players like myself who have little or no interest in gcw or even jedi's are at the mercy of a severe lack of imagination on the devs part. the game has so much potential, it always has had. its just a shame that the people running it dont :(
